Now, about the restaurant: We’ve been coming to Leo’s since it was located in Newtown (late 80’s – early 90’s) and until this fiasco with the billing “issue,” it was one of our favorite, most-often-frequented breakfast spots. They have a fantastic waffle dish, covered in fruit and a delicious raspberry yogurt dressing that was my personal favorite.
They have other other breakfast dishes favorited by my family. Overall the food is fresh and very good. Service can be good at times and poor at other times. You also have to be careful that when you ask for something to accompany your meal (like real maple syrup), that you ask if it’s extra because the servers tend not to think to tell you ahead of time that it is. The coffee quality is lacking and is very disappointing. I would like to see them spend a little more on better coffee. They do offer fresh-squeezed orange juice that is delicious.
Even though only 30% of people who order this king sized dish actually finish, I knew this would prove no match for my bottomless stomach. Indeed, I polished off the whole shebang in a speedy 11:40, easily surpassing the owners wildest imagination.
Leo’s scrumptious challenge may not have busted open my gut, but their warm friendliness and amiable staff had my heart bursting with gratitude. Thank you so much for continuing to offer such fun and inviting breakfast challenge after almost 40 years and for treating me like family during my meal. With the spirit of a lion running strong in the restaurant, I felt like a part of Leo’s pack .
The food came out quick and hot, and I’ll tell you, I had the best French fries I’ve had in a long while. The Ruben wasn’t the best, but it was good enough. The meat was fresh, but the toppings were a little lacking.
I will definitely be coming back to eat here the next time I pass therough.
Let me start by saying the coleslaw is the best slaw I’ve had in a very long time. I would rate 10 star rating for the slaw. Perfectly balanced. Not too sweet, not to Mayo and not to vinegar!
The fries ranked among my top favorites.
This mom and pop place has a following and rightly so. The food was amazing. It was so plentiful that I couldn’t eat it all but I sure tried because it was sooo delicious!
I would absolutely return given the opportunity!!!
