To be honest I like this location and the people who work here. They were very nice and attentive and we had everything we needed. The good was great, good seasoning, well cooked, and very fresh. The ice cream was so bomb and everyone at our table seemed to be having fun!

I think food can be made better. All you are paying for is experience of someone trying to cook in front of you. Chef tried tricks but he failed, maybe not that experienced but he was nice and made efforts. Food was just OK, basic. I wanted to try so I did and probably won’t go back.

Great Japanese restaurant with a fun teppanyaki-style experience. The chef cooked right in front of us, which made the meal entertaining and interactive. The food was delicious, and the portions were very generous.
I definitely left full and satisfied. Would come back again!

We got the diner for two at the live Cooking station. The chef was great, whitty and funny! Experience was delightful with every cute being so good! I’d recommend going to steak and seafood, as they are more appetizing that chicken.. friend rice is a good complementing dish, which is an option for $5 more. Great experience

My father and his friend went there for their birthdays because they advertise you eat for free on your birthday, and they called to confirm! They enjoyed food service was great and atmosphere was AMAZING! They get 1 star due to the indignant behavior of the manager and owner because they tried to charge them even though they advertise you eat for free on your birthday without saying you have to have a party of 4. They tried to talk to the manager and she called them liars on multiple occasions and even tried to say they never called and even though they showed they did from their called, from their cell phone call log, and we not told there were any other requirements They asked to speak to the owner and the manager refused, however when security and supervisor from the casino should up, he encouraged the manager to the owner to see what could be done! The manager walked away and called the owner away from everyone so no one could hear what she told the owner. She walked back with the owner on the phone and handed the phone to my dad. The owner proceeded to curse and use every four letter word you could think of and would not let my dad get a word on edgewise, he also threatened to have my dad and his friend arrested. My dad passed phone on to his friend and the owner repeated his vulgar rant. My dad shared he had a restaurant himself and the patrons always came first! So beware if you are going to go there for your birthday, regardless what they tell you on the phone, they will not give you a free meal on your birthday unless you bring 3 other paying patrons!

If you visit here for an event on a special day, I think you can have a good time. Depending on how much experienced chef is in charge of the table, the fun can be halved. In fact, Depanyaki food tastes so good, but all the ingredients are cooked with the same ingredients and sauce, so I don’t enjoy it that much because it’s easy to bite. I didn’t get a strong impression because of chef who is not that much skilled chef .and the food is cooked with soy sauce with butter and garlic and salt & pepper from start to finish as I said. Considering this, please consider whether to visit or not.

Had a good time overall. The food was good and they accommodated my fish allergy well. The service was great and the atmosphere was fun. With all the grills going it was pretty hot in there, was manageable but a little cooler inside would have made the experience even better. Not a fan of sweating while I’m eating. Would definitely return though.

This was my third visit to Ichiban and probably my last. My first two visits were so great but there was hardly anyone there. Well I finally experienced it on a busy night and everything that I enjoyed before was kicked to the curb. I had reservations for my husband’s birthday for a group of 5 adults and two high chairs. As we were looking for parking I got a call that if we weren’t there in “like 5 min” e we would have to wait an hour and half for next table. I get we were a tad behind but when we got there there literally was one person at the table still waiting for their party as well. They made it seem like everyone was there waiting for us to start. When we were finally seated, it seemed like the cook was rushing the entire “show”. He didn’t do several of the tricks we are used to. The shrimp toss that we all know about went to one kid and three tries to another woman. Why wouldn’t the birthday man get a shot? There was hardly any interaction with our party. I asked for a napkin and the server came and went three times helping others before I could wipe my mouth with a napkin. My friend ordered an espresso martini that looked awful. The vegetables were so undercooked and flavorless just almost raw crunch. The steak was huge chunks tuft size of meatballs!! The shrimp was tasty and my husband enjoyed the scallops but the service was just poor and food was disappointing. I was so upset at how the only acknowledgment of my husbands birthday was his candle and happy birthday song. They checked his id to make sure it was his birthday. The last time I came, I brought a friend from Las Vegas with just me, her and my daughter and they didn’t care that there weren’t 4 people in the party, they didn’t charge my daughter for being seated in a chair and they gave the friends a lot of birthday love and entertainment for free and they didn’t even ask for her id because she told them she wasn’t local to Reno. My husband, who’s an actual local, with a party over 4 (as per their policy) got his sub par meal for free with no real celebration here. I hate to say I was so upset from start to finish. This is a tough one to give another shot. I still can’t get over the veggies and steak! Embarrassing I could’ve done better and should’ve did it myself or went somewhere else. I’m just too disappointed in this whole experience. Go on a slow weekday and their policy isn’t a big deal but follow it on a busy day and service is crap.

This is very good warning to any future customers going to this Reno location anytime in future. If they take a deposit from you to make a reservation which is $100 (only required when you have 6 or more people) Please Please Please make sure you ask them to refund your money back upon arrival on the date of reservation. Otherwise your money is gone. They will not refund you your deposit. I went to check on my card statement about 2 weeks after I went there and deposit was charged and my dinner bill was also charged. This is a RED Flag place since they are ready to take your $100 if you don’t follow up. Manager Shannon tried to make excuse for there staff mistake, I simply call rip off .
Careful customers, don’t trust this outlet at all.

Took my wife here for dinner for the first time since moving to Reno. My wife and I were regulars at out favorite Japanese Steakhouse back in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I have to say with all the buzz and the prices I thought it would be much better. The service was ok but not great and the Chef was very boring and not very interactive like I’m used to and felt like he was rushing to get done and get us out for the next group. The food is what I was disappointed in the most, very bland with not much flavor. The fried rice was just ok, not great and the vegetables were barely cooked, very raw like. There were 8 other people at the table and I saw a lot of food that didn’t get eaten. I felt the cucumber salad and the ice cream was the best part and the miso soup was horrible. Make your own opinion and give it a shot, but we definitely won’t be back.
