Only a four? Tbh, my friends probably would have wanted me to give it a 5 but I’m picky so blame me.
Something about the people who live and work in Punta Gorda… Always smiling, friendly and welcoming! This was true here! Our party asked several questions and our waitress was very accommodating…and patient!
As you can see from the pics, portions were on the money and prices reasonable!
Easy access, lots of parking and oh, if you have had wait time in the past, they’re expanding!!
More seats good eats!

What a great find. We had the crab cakes and the pistachio cod. Both were served with asparagus and risotto. Both were served hot. Seafood was fresh and tasted delicious. I really like that you can choose your portion size too. Service was friendly and fast. Our waitress was funny and attentive. Would definitely return.

Ormal bar atmosphere with a slight upgrade. Food was good but a bit pricey and we waited way too long for our order. Libations were good. Plenty of parking.

Absolutely incredible service and super nice staff. It was also very very good food. Wife loved the salmon and I loved the chicken bacon pasta. Highly recommended to try this place.

We stopped here for lunch after our flight into Punta Gorda. It’s right off of 75. The food was good. We tried the Cod Hoagie and Tamtav chicken sandwich. The food came quickly and the service was excellent.

Fantastic food and service. Many draft beers to choose from. The Beef on Weck (French dip) is amazing along with the French Onion Soup, clam chowder, and salad with salmon. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, restaurant and restrooms are clean. Will definitely be going back.

My salmon was great. We had a good dinner. 6 of us got seated by using the register ahead option they have. Inside was louder than I expected which is fine so long as you are looking for a more upbeat live environment versus a dark quiet private dinner.

Beef Sandwiches Were A Hit
We have always been happy with their food on previous visits. Not so this time with the Chicken Nachos appetizer ($12.00 base, add $4.00 for the chicken). I typically order nachos to have as my dinner and our server assured me that the portion would meet my needs. Indeed, it is a large portion and it looks really appetizing, but appearances don’t tell you about taste. The large plate had a mound of corn chips, topped with grilled chicken pieces, roasted corn, pico de gallo, pickled red onion, fresh jalapeño slices (not pickled) and their house Blazin’ spicy cream sauce. It was supposed to have avocado and if it was there, I couldn’t find it. So let’s look at the components. The corn chips lacked a good corn flavor. Just blah corn chips. I would guess that they cut up one grilled chicken breast to spread over the chips and I found the chicken to be flavorless. The roasted corn kernels were good, just not very many of them. The pico de gallo and pickled red onions were the tastiest parts of these nachos, but sparse. I should have ordered more of both to amp up the flavor. I did not find the sauce to be ‘blazin’. I did see flecks of red pepper in the sauce which looked more like liquid cheese to me. To sum it up, this dish was disappointing and I would not order it again. My daughter ordered the Tavern Steak Hoagie ($22.00) and selected Truffle Fries as an upgraded side (add$2.00). Shaved ribeye was piled high on a garlic butter toasted hoagie roll. The meat was topped with mushrooms, caramelized onions, provolone and steakhouse aioli. Excellent flavor, a great sandwich. The truffle fries are to die for. I’m sure they were twice fried and the truffle – outstanding!! The Beef on Weck sandwich ($19.00) is my wife’s favorite here and they did not disappoint. Thinly sliced tender roast beef piled high on a toasted Kummelweck roll served with a side of au jus and ground horseradish, an excellent condiment for roast beef. She selected the upgraded Brussels and Bacon with Thai Glaze side (add $1.00). We have had these sprouts before and they are great! They roast the sprouts with bacon ensuring they get some good carmelization, toss them with some Hot/Sweet Thai chili sauce and serve it in a mini cast iron skillet to keep them hot. So, so good with just a little kick from the chilies in the sweet sauce. A great meal! We will go back for sure and I’ll try something else.

This is a go to spot in Punta Gorda. Great bar, always great service and food. A place you never walk away hungry! Our #1 breakfast spot too! They even have a patio for your fur baby. Drinks and food reasonable and never disappoints. If you are there for lunch or dinner, make sure you try the French Onion soup! It’s the real thing! Go early…they fill up fast, but it’s always worth the wait.

Visited Tamiami Tavern for breakfast. We were seated immediately at a high table, which was acceptable and comfortable. Our waiter, David, was quick to get us menus and bring our drinks. He is very personable and friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. After a few questions we had, David took our order and we chatted for a few minutes, which was very pleasant. The food was at our table in about 10 minutes, give or take. Super delicious and generous portions. I had a western omelette with an English muffin and she had the Southwest Bruffin with breakfast potatoes. (A breakfast sandwich made with an English muffin.) we decided that we are going to return at least several more times to try other menu items. The atmosphere was pleasant, somewhat cozy and relaxing. I think it would have been better if there was some music playing quietly in the background. Then again, with my old ears, maybe there was! Try Tamiami Tavern. It is very affordable and delicious.
