That didn’t go well as I got food poisoning from it… that I am only now recovering from.
At that point my husband remembered that the previous time we placed an ordered (on the 28/10/2025) the exact same situation occurred….
With the gap of three months in between I think that speaks for itself that it is not a one off issue, for people who are considering to order, please look for safer options.
However, while the food largely impressed, some items like the green tea ice didn’t quite match my palate. My main qualm centered around the dining setup, specifically the tables for 1-2 people. As depicted in the images attached, these tables felt cramped and uncomfortable for two individuals. Given the restaurant’s offer of unlimited dining time, this constrained seating made it challenging to relax and enjoy the meal fully.
Despite this, I must acknowledge that my time at Shiki Sushi & Lounge was pleasant, yet the tight seating arrangement was a drawback that impacted the overall experience. With a few improvements in the seating layout, this renowned restaurant in my beloved city of Rotterdam could elevate its dining experience to match its exceptional food quality. Rating it 4 stars reflects my admiration for the cuisine and the hope for enhanced comfort in the future.
The nine course menu consists of different dishes in Japanese style. They all taste amazing! Especially the wagyu beef and lobster dishes were outstanding, with honorable mentions for nigiri Shiki style and the pork dumpling. Matching wine/drinks menu is very good as well.
Service and presentation outstanding.
Do not eat anything that day as there is so much to try and you don’t want to miss anything.
Highly recommend the dragon rolls, salmon rolls and the beef teriyaki
Believe it was €37 per head not including drinks which vary between €3,25-€10 depending on what you have. There’s a good selection of beer, cocktails, wine, soft drinks and hot drinks available.
The staff are friendly, helpful and very apologetic if something you have ordered via the app takes longer than expected.
Parking is easy enough as there is a large car park out the back. Cost us €4 for 2.5 hours
Very impressed and will be going again hopefully soon
I love writing good reviews, but this time, I’m truly disappointed.
I ordered a sushi platter for €114, gave a tip to the delivery person at the door, and the food looked great. However, for a platter worth €114, they only included two portions of wasabi and two portions of ginger. How stingy can you be??
I called customer service, and to my surprise, the receptionist told me I should order more if I wanted extra wasabi and ginger. What kind of customer service is that?? There wasn’t even an option to add more when placing the order. According to her, most customers don’t eat that much wasabi and ginger with their sushi. But ginger is meant to cleanse the palate so you can properly taste each piece. Do they even realize how much sushi we ordered? Seriously?? Why should we, as paying customers, be affected by other people’s preferences?
I was always taught: the one who pays, decides. Hospitality is key, Shiki. My advice—only spend your money where you are valued.
Now, I’m at Albert Heijn, BUYING extra wasabi and ginger. So in the end, I didn’t just pay €114, but an extra €7.70, not to mention the cost of fuel to get here.
