Had lunch here, it was fantastic. Service was excellent. Quick and friendly. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very neat! The bar is area is very cozy. Food was great! Had their lunch special for the day, prime rib sandwich. This was the best steak sandwich I’ve had in the state of Nebraska! Their salad bar is great too. Great place to eat. Highly recommend giving them a try. I will eat here again when I am in the area.

Our server was wonderful, our seating was nice–the table was a touch small–our food was amazing. Okay actually, my husband’s prime rib open-faced sandwich was amazing! (My fried chicken was delicious, but the prime rib melted in your mouth like Amish butter!) And I’m not the biggest steak fan, so believe me.

My wife and I decided to try while we were in town. There was no wait to be seated. Our server Chirs was friendly and did a perfect job! The menu has a wide variety and we were very pleased with the options. We had cheese curds, soup (meatball), salad, fettuccine alfredo, the hot beef, and cheesecake. Food was all perfectly cooked and would definitely recommend. The atmosphere of the restaurant was comforting and calm, just right for a Saturday lunch date. We will definitely make the drive from Lincoln to come back!

I recently visited Chances “R” and was thrilled to see their famous prime rib buffet back in action—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. In fact, this was hands-down some of the best prime rib I’ve had in a long time. The meat was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, complemented perfectly by that creamy horseradish sauce. It’s the kind of prime rib that cuts like butter, reminding you of why prime rib is such a steakhouse favorite in the first place.
Beyond the prime rib, the buffet lineup was impressive. It included a range of sides—from cheesy hash browns that were comforting and gooey to a simple, fresh house salad topped with a tangy dressing. Everything tasted like it was prepared with real care. Even the corn was sweet and buttery, rounding out the classic steakhouse experience.
Atmosphere-wise, I loved the warm, rustic vibe of the place. The dining room felt inviting, with wood floors underfoot and twinkling string lights overhead. A backdrop of neon signs gave it a fun, nostalgic touch—almost like stepping back in time to a traditional roadhouse setting. The staff were friendly and attentive, always checking in to make sure everything was just right.
If you’re a prime rib fan or simply looking for a hearty, comforting meal in a relaxed setting, Chances “R” has you covered. It’s rare to find a buffet that keeps quality and flavor this high, especially with a cut like prime rib. I left more than satisfied and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommended!

Our server was excellent and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of while there. The food was good but not exceptional. It had been years since we at been to Chances R, we had always enjoyed eating threre.

They understood and had a gluten free menu!! Super sweet staff and great food. Love the antiques along the walls along with the appearance of gas lit lamps. I enjoy a rare steak with a good crust all over. My filet was bacon wrapped and the bacon was limp and not crispy., my husband thinks because I
Gluten Free they couldn’t cook it in a pan? The flavor is great but I like a crisp to my veggies, they seemed overdone but the flavor amazing. My husband loved all of his food too. Very glad we came to eat when we were here.

We visited for a birthday lunch after hearing great things from friends. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming, staff was nice. The food was good with enough portions I happily took some food home. Seems like a great place to revisit for dinner and drinks or just another nice weekend lunch as we live out of town. Definitely worth the trip, and looking forward to the completion of the remodel!

Charming restaurant with great history and excellent food. We had the chicken fried steak and the prime rib dinner. The meals come with the salad and they bring out the dressing carousel that you only see in the traditional steakhouses. The salad was full of goodies. They serve hash browns which are hard to come by these days. They were done perfect on the inside with a nice crispy outside and the prime rib was tender and delicious. The chicken fried steak had a flavorful light breading and came with a light peppery gravy. I always get a side of gravy. The rolls came right out of the oven and they had a nice soft center. Save room for dessert, they all looked amazing. I had the cheesecake and it was amazing. I encourage you to take the time to view the pictures in the hallway that tell the history of the restaurant. I love that places like this are still around.
