Mague’s Café – Boerne, TX
I’ve eaten at Mague’s Café multiple times, and the food is always spot on. Everything I’ve tried has been absolutely amazing. The staff is incredibly sweet and attentive — my drinks are always refilled quickly, and they genuinely make you feel taken care of.
The food never misses. Whether it’s breakfast or enchiladas, every dish comes out perfect every single time. And don’t even get me started on the baked goods — they are phenomenal.
Hands down, this is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area in my opinion. Consistent, delicious, welcoming, and 100% worth it every time. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Finally getting around to reviewing Mague’s in Boerne. Been here many times over the past several years. Nice selection of food that always tastes great at reasonable prices. Very cramped at times though and it can get loud. Fortunately this time was a party of 3x on a Sunday at 1130 and there were several open tables (which quickly filled up around 1200 and had people waiting outside). Service was friendly and quick (though it can get backed up quickly once the after church crowd shows up on Sundays OR during other normal lunch hours.

On a recent trip to Boerne we were looking for a breakfast stop on Sunday morning. We passed by Mague’s, saw how packed the parking lot was and turned around. We decided that this must be where all the locals go. Sure enough they do. Even though it was packed the four of us were seated right away. The food was excellent and the prices were unbelievable! It’s like they haven’t changed the prices in the past 20 years! Next time we’re in town we will definitely be stopping again. Highly recommend.

The food is always hit & miss here. Tacos are great, but if you order something with cheese…. they don’t use real cheese here. My nachos were glued together with this oil based product. I enjoyed the nachos without the cheese a lot more than I did with the cheese. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican. This is not the place for you.

The tortillas are extremely inconsistent. One day they’re perfect and soft and the next they’re hard, tough, and chewy. If you can’t do tortillas as a Mexican food restaurant then what are you doing

Much better choices in Boerne.
Pros: normally fast service.good tortillas
Cons: breakfast, use low quality bacon & sausage. Way overpriced.
My dinner plate, cold rice from bottom of pan, easily hours old. Cheese enchiladas cold. Refried Beens watery.

Quick pit stop for lunch – place was super crowded – so figured it had to be good – glad we stopped in – food was great – and prices not bad – if you get the menudo it is spicy spicy but really good

Traveling through beautiful Boerne on Highway 10 heading west. Decided to stop and grab a fajita plate. Not sure what meat was used maybe brisket, roast or both . It was chopped up into little tiny pieces. Rice was bland, green sauce and red sauce were very watery. Tortillas were elastic and past there prime. But the worst were the beans. When a Mexican Restaurant serves Sour Beans to their customers there is no care for quality or safety. These Beans were way past there prime. What a difference a year makes since my last visit.
“Hey Boerne Health Dept”. a friendly visit wouldn’t be a bad idea. Boerne’s community deserves better.

Mague’s is a local establishment where the owners and staff just decided to do it right. The food is authentic and the service is efficient and friendly. Come early to avoid the line, although the line moves along fairly quickly. I’ve only stopped in for breakfast, so no insight as to their lunch offerings but the juevos rancheros are some of the best I’ve had. Prices are reasonable.

So we’ve been here maybe 3 times in the past 12 years and every time we get almost the same results.
Here’s what I’m talking about:
The atmosphere: is noisy and loud and there’s a pattern on where to stand for in-house ordering, waiting on phone order pick-ups, and for paying at the counter, if you’re not in those spots (line) they will let you know, with somewhat of an attitude.
Personnel/Service: the people working there are very, how can I say this; “they are not trying to be nice and somewhat connect with the folks sitting at the table while ordering drinks or food. They aren’t trying to make small talk. It’s more like, “I’m super busy and I just stopped by really quick to get your” and that’s it! No bedside manners (as they say), no smiling faces, just dead tone voices.
Food: I ordered two tacos with cheese, when I got my order, there was hardly any cheese on my tacos, didn’t see what they charged for cheese but it wasn’t free.
So, unless we’re a local and you’ve been coming here for a long time, this is not what I expect for restaurant service.
Bottom line, we aren’t coming back or recommending this restaurant in Boerne.
