I’m thrilled to have discovered Namaste Jalsa, a hidden gem serving Indian and Nepalese cuisine, with an incredible buffet that’s a treat for the eyes! The spread included mouth-watering dishes. What truly impressed me was the variety of options, including a vegetarian salad and an assortment of fresh fruits – a rare find in most Indian buffets! They’re also famous for their delicious momos/dumplings. If you’re ever in the area, be sure to check them out – they’re conveniently located near the popular tourist spot on King Street in Alexandria. My server Linda was very attentive, as were the others.

Namaste Jalsa is a good spot for anyone craving authentic, flavorful Indian and Nepali cuisine. The food is delicious, with rich spices, fresh ingredients, and generous portions. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive, and the service feels genuinely caring rather than rushed. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a great place for family dinners, gatherings with friends, or a relaxed evening out.

Food: had the lunch buffet on 02/19/2026. Naan wasn’t freshly made, just pieces on the buffet line. The naan was soaked in butter or some type of grease. The buffet had little variety with one chicken and the two veggie options all made with an orange cream sauce, so basically all three of these options tasted the same to me. The cubed chicken pieces were dry as well. The masala tea that came with the buffet was spiced, a bit strong, but tolerable. The gulab jamun was acceptable, but the balls were very small and very dense.

Service: expected service. Not bad, nor exceptional. The bill came with a lowest set tip of 20% which is questionable for a buffet, but I used the custom option to provide a lower tip.

Atmosphere: No sneeze quards for any of the food. Small holes in the ceiling above the buffet were disconcerting. Otherwise, it was nice that the dining area was carpeted which kept the noise level low.

For the price, $15.54 inclusive of taxes, the buffet was a good value, but it would have been much better if most of the options were prepared differently instead of with the same type of cream sauce.

Family and I went for the lunch buffet. The decor was pleasant with lots of seating. The servers were attentive but not overbearing. The surfaces and floors were very clean. The food was fresh, hot, and tasty delicious. The chutneys were zesty, the chicken was tender, homey dals and paneers, and naan that struck the balance between crisp and chewy in the best of ways. We kept trying to make it there on the weekday but could never find the time and as if they somehow knew that was the only thing keeping this from being our new favorite place, they now have it on SATURDAY! Best $14 spent in ages. Go there asap.

The food was average and nothing particularly memorable. Unfortunately, the customer service really disappointed us.

After we had already paid and were almost out the door, one of the staff members (an Indian guy) approached us in a rude tone and asked whether we had paid the bill or not. That felt very disrespectful, as if he assumed we would leave without paying. We are Nepali, and he spoke to us in an Indian language that we did not understand, which made the situation even more uncomfortable.

On top of that, we were not given any fork or spoon, and our water was never refilled during the meal. Overall, the lack of basic service and the rude interaction left a bad impression. This experience happened about two weeks ago.

Been eating here for about 4 years now. I’d like to say this is the best Indian food around the Alexandria area, I’d even say the DMV from my experience and Indian food is my favorite. The flavors here are top notch and the most fresh, other places are good but dull in comparison. My favorite dishes on the menu are Curry Goat (Spicy) and the Goat Biriyani (Spicy). The portions are really good for the price as you know Indian food is typically expensive but it’s so worth it. Also the staff, the lady, Linda, at the front is always super sweet and helpful I just love this restaurant personally. 10s all across the board from me.
