We left a restaurant because of the atmosphere and chose to come here, and I’m glad we followed our first mind! We were greeted with a smile followed by great excitement and anticipation to serve us the food was so tasty we demolished it so fast! Happy Birthday to my son he deserved to be happy and filled with good food and that’s what he received. We will definitely be back.

The food was really good, but I can’t rate BBQ food too much as I’m a native New Englander, anything BBQ not from there is going to be 100x better.

That being said, we came a few hours ahead to double check our large order for later. They didn’t say delivery wasn’t an option for the day, our order got given to grubhub, which they couldn’t figure out after 15 minutes when we had the confirmation number and all information needed. The manager was rather rude to me but not my girlfriend (gender reasons I assume).

Then after promising multiple times that our order would be okay, they forgot a few of our items yet still charged for it…

Interior is lacking creativity.

Had a great meal this evening. About an hour from closing and the restaurant was nearly empty, the service was great and the food was absolutely fantastic. Probably the best barbeque in The Villages. Ribs and chicken were perfect. Generous portions were more than we could finish so we have nice leftovers for tomorrow. This is a must visit location.

Natalie is always a fantastic server. My food was great until I found a large chunk of bone in my sandwich. Fortunately, I had eaten more than enough already. This was the first time I had an issue with Sonny’s food, but unfortunately it will have a lasting impression.

Excellent service by Frank!! Quick and accurate. Literally went above and beyond from the moment we stepped in the front door. Appreciate good service!! If you like BBQ I recommend on giving it a try. 5 of us ate for $100. Will definitely be going back. Second time here and excellent service and if you get a pulled sandwich the amount of meat is perfect! Also….. don’t overlook the new queso dip…….

What happened to this appetizer ? You went from a 10 to a 0, over cooked filled with air and very little pork. You even served it with a container of ranch? Never again! Picked up 2 orders to go because its usually very good IT was Awful. Change your pics on your adverts and menu looks nothing like what you really get now.

We’re done with this Sonny’s. We’ll drive to the Bellview location which is always on point. The last time we were here, at The Villages location, we asked the waitress for utensils, Never got them and then asked the host for utensils. The host said he’d get us utensils, After about 10 minutes, I went back to the kitchen and asked for utensils and I was finally given a set. Similar situation tonight, We asked the waitress for utensils, after quite awhile, she was able to find some forks. No knives; just forks. The restaurant was only about 25% full so there shouldn’t be a shortage of utensils. Sonny’s – BUY SOME MORE UTENSILS! Your customers shouldn’t have to beg for utensils. Now the food. The pulled pork was fatty but not as bad as my wife’s brisket, Her brisket was tough and more than 50% fat. Picture attached. The hostess greeted us and sat us quickly, Our waitress Sierra was efficient, Ar least our iced tea and french fries were decent. Done with this Sonny’s.

Nice place. Came for lunch and place wasn’t crowded. We got sat on the bar side. Aside from the bar, 2 tables were taken. One by a larger crowd of about 6. Ordered the Candied Bacon, lettuce and fried green tomato sandwich with coleslaw. It was so good! I requested a knife to cut my sandwich. Never got it. When the coleslaw arrived, a fork was forgotten. I asked about the fork after several minutes so I could eat my coleslaw. I would have gotten it myself if I knew where they were lol. I didn’t bother asking about the knife to cut my sandwich. Waitress was nice but I think the guys at the other table were teasing her about ” it’s all about getting the tips” or something to that effect. I felt they were throwing disrespectful comments at her in a teasing but serious way and maybe she was a little flustered. I wouldn’t like comments like that thrown at me. Anyway, would I go back? Yes. Had I been by myself, I would of probably said something to that other table.

Sonny BBQ is one of those unusual places: a chain restaurant that manages to feel local and have great food and service.

The Sonny’s at Lake Sumter Landing in The Villages, Florida is high on my list of food places to make sure I fit into my schedule. The service is friendly and fast, the food tastes great, and the prices are very reasonable.

Sonny’s has what you would typically find at other BBQ restaurants: pulled pork, brisket, chicken, and ribs. While you can get your meat with BBQ sauce already on, typically they make it plain and you can choose from one of the four sauce is already on the table. Mild, sweet, smokin’ (meaning hot, not smokey), and sizzling sweet round out the four. Each is good in its own way, and compliments the meat very well. A nice selection of standard side dishes and sandwiches round out the menu.

The homemade cornbread muffins deserves special mention. These muffins are, at least in my opinion, without equal. Even if Sonny’s barbecue is awful, which it is not, I would still go there just for the cornbread muffins. Light and sweet with great flavor…they are truly excellent, and rarely can you eat just one. One ding I have to give Sonny’s here is that they don’t provide you with real butter. They provide you with one of those spreads that’s more vegetable oil than anything else. Please, get real butter Sonny’s!!! You’re better than whipped buttery spread!!!!!

The booths and tables are clean and comfortable, though the restrooms could use a bit of work at times. The staff is friendly and attentive, and I’ve never had to ask for something before it was offered.

All in all, Sonny’s is highly rated and I would not hesitate to recommend it to all my friends and family.
