It was my first time dining here, and the experience was truly exceptional! The staff were incredibly approachable – especially Tera, who is truly the best of the best. We had an amazing time! His interactions weren’t just with us but with everyone in the area, spreading nothing but positive vibes and great energy. The food came out promptly, and the live Mariachi made the experience even more memorable. Overall, a 100/10 experience. If we ever come back, Hotel Contessa will definitely be our choice, and we’ll absolutely be dining at Ambler again! ✨ ️

We had such a wonderful experience! We dined outside on the patio, and although it was a little chilly, the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful and worth it.
What truly made our visit stand out was our server, Francisco. He was incredibly kind and attentive from start to finish. Not only did he offer to bring a heating lamp to keep us warm, but he even offered his own personal jacket which I thought was beyond thoughtful and genuinely kind. That level of care is rare and so appreciated!
As for the food…everything was amazing! The ahi tuna tower is a MUST have, so fresh and full of flavor. The chicken fried steak was delicious, and my husband’s meatloaf was just as good.
To top it all off, the mariachis outside the entrance of Ambler were the perfect way to end our date night❤️such a beautiful and memorable touch!
Between the great food, beautiful setting, and outstanding service from Francisco, this was an experience we won’t forget. Highly recommend! ✨

had an amazing experience thanks to our server, Tera. From the very beginning, he was attentive, genuine, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to adjust recommendations to our palate while still staying true to what the kitchen offers, which made every dish even more enjoyable.
What really stood out was how kind and family-oriented he was with us. He made everyone feel comfortable and welcomed, and his warmth truly elevated our entire dining experience.

Francisco our server took our experience to another level. The food was remarkable, I had a burger, but it was top notch, with that yummy bun. We had 3 appetizers, the goat cheese was unexpectedly delish. Lastly the deserts. We ordered 3 deserts, but my fave has to be the bread pudding. They are served in warm skillets and are a must. Then enjoy a walk just 10 steps away on the River Walk to let the food settle.
Now, I do have to say that out of everything , my favorite part was the service from Francisco! He was hilarious, fast, witty. I was belly laughing. He should be on a stage somewhere. As the former Queen of the River Walk , who has tried almost every place on the River Walk, Ambler is one of my top picks. Enjoy!

This was absolutely our favorite restaurant we ate at during our trip to San Antonio; not only for the food and the beautiful view of the river walk, but because of our server Francisco. He was so genuinely kind, patient, and thoughtful. He elevated our experience tremendously. We also loved the food and the ambience. I had the chillaquiles which is the best I’ve ever had anywhere, and my sister had the French toast which was also so unique and delicious. My sister and I are already talking about visiting again and bringing our husbands. We can’t wait to return!

I tried the red snapper, and unfortunately, it was underwhelming—lacking freshness and overall flavor. On the other hand, the 14oz New York strip was excellent—cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I would highly recommend that dish.

One of the few non-touristy restaurants on the river walk. We both got the red snapper and it was phenomenal! Our server Tera was so sweet and had us laughing all night. Ask to sit in his section if you go.

We live in San Antonio and come here about once every 4-5 months for brunch. It’s right on the riverwalk and almost never has a wait. I almost do t want to post about this but it’s one of our best kept secrets here. Great food, and we see our favorite waiter there frequently. Francisco is amazing! Very polite and almost overly hyper getting everyone’s food and drinks quickly. Absolutely amazing. We will continue to come and enjoy the brunch, especially when guests come to visit and want to see the riverwalk. Thanks for making so many of our brunch’s great, Francisco!

We went to Ambler for brunch while staying at Hotel Contessa for my wife’s birthday. The experience was nothing short of exceptional. I had a Coffee Old Fashioned and my wife a Vanilla Latte to start. We ordered the egg white frittata, which we got with regular eggs and chocolate chip griddle cakes. The food was delicious, and our waiter had it split without even having to ask. As good as the food and ambiance were, the real standout was our server, Francisco. He was attentive and made sure we had a wonderful experience. Hands down, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place for brunch or any meal on the river walk or anywhere in San Antonio.

Food is delicious. The cocktails were also good- but my only complaint is that some of the drinks were not worth $22. The service was excellent though and the ambiance of the hotel is very relaxing and peaceful. There are lots of indoor plants and exposed stone to make it feel extremely relaxing.
