Columbus, Ohio has many African restaurants, but Drelyse Restaurant truly stands out for its authentic Ghanaian dishes. The jollof rice is one of the best I’ve had—comparable to what I’ve enjoyed in Ghana and across several U.S. states.
Prices are very affordable, especially when compared to similar portions in states like MD, NY, VA, and NJ. The staff are warm and friendly, which makes the experience even better.
Highly recommended—you’ll be glad you tried it. Satisfaction guaranteed!

This restaurant is an absolute African treasure. Whenever I have foreign guests in town, this is my go-to destination to show off the richness of our African delicacies. It never fails to impress!
Signature Tilapia: Perfectly prepared and full of authentic flavor.
Yam and Turkey Tail: My personal favorite—it’s a must-order every time I visit.
In this part of the world, it can be hard to find food that tastes like home, but this place makes Ghanaians take immense pride in our cuisine. Thank you for keeping our traditions alive and delicious!

They were extremely helpful, willing to explain the menu as needed. They cook with a lot of tomatoes, but they are not explicit in listing them as an ingredient for every dish. I ordered the tilapia & it was smothered in sautéed onions & tomatoes. While the fish itself had good flavor, I am allergic to tomatoes & couldn’t enjoy the meal. I would have asked for no tomatoes had it been listed as an ingredient. I was really looking forward to the plantains, but they were very dry, and hard to stomach. The jollaf rice lacked flavor (outside of tomato.) Unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed enough to go back, but I am glad I tried it based on someone’s recommendation.

I drove all the way from Toledo and received amazing service. The African food, including the egusi, fufu, plantains, and tilapia, was exceptional, deserving of six stars. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere and was very clean. I will definitely recommend and return. Thank you, Drelyse, for a six-star experience.

This place was awesome. My buddies and I ate here today and we all enjoyed it. I had the the waankye with goat meat and my buddies had the banku with okra soup and tilapia which we all highly recommend. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was so good, I ordered another meal to go for tomorrow. I will definitely return here the next time I’m in town.

I get the tilapia with plantain every time I come here. But the prices are getting a bit too pricey. I was in town and had to pass up on my fav spot. Columbus has many other great restaurants but man this one is my top fav when I have extra money to indulge. You guys should consider coupons or weekly specials. Guarantee the line will be out the door.

Authentic African food, you can smell its authentic before even tasting. Clean restaurant with hand washing available at the table. On a Friday night they were pretty busy, you can tell they are popular.
