Pizza, other Italian eats & craft beers on tap in a casual sports-bar setting with outdoor seating.

We were just passing by and saw a veranda with tables, chairs, and a sign that this was an Italian pub with pizza (we entered from the riverwalk).
It was a chilly, rainy morning and we were craving coffee. Unfortunately, they didn’t have coffee. But we decided to order pizza.
We ordered a personal pizza and a calzone.
We waited a long time, convincing ourselves that this wasn’t just any pizza, that they were making it for us from the ground up—from the dough. The waiter, Justin, was very nice and came by several times to check if everything was okay, and he brought us a small glass of espresso. But we started getting angry because we wanted hot coffee, it was drizzling. We were cold and ready to leave. But we waited!
And finally got our foood!
Just LOOK!
We didn’t leave a crumb of what Justin brought us.
It was absolutely delicious. The hot cheeses inside the calzone instantly changed our mood. And the pizza was super delicious. I usually don’t like pizza crusts and leave them on the plate, but using the delicious freshly made tomato sauce with basil, I ate absolutely the whole thing. Absolutely delicious!!

It was a beautiful fall day and we wanted to eat outside with a view of the cape fear river and Fat Tony’s had it all. We enjoyed our meal on the patio. Most of the tables weren’t covered and there was some clutter on the floor. The patio is shared with the restaurant next door lacking full view of the river. Food was great, I specially enjoyed the marinara sauce.

The calzone was excellent and my daughter loved the baked spaghetti. I was also able to watch various college football games on the numerous TV’s. However, I asked for 1 TV to be changed to a specific game, they said they would but never did. Still a great place.

My entire experience was well above my expectations.
The reviews that I have read just do not say enough.
My service was exceptional and many thanks to Kiely!
The bruschetta was a wonderful start to a great meal! I added chicken to the (5) Cheese Tortallini, complimented by my Voodoo Ranger draft beer(s).
Huge shout out to Kiely and if they could clone her, every table would be occupied!

I found that both dishes were somewhat lacking in flavor. Specifically, the marinara sauce was overly sweet, and the cheese and steak sandwich was a bit dry. However, the water was quite refreshing, the fries were good, and the waiter provided excellent service

I would definitely come back & recommend! We had a great experience – our waitress was nice and attentive, it was a great day to sit out on the back patio, and the food was amazing!
The 5 Cheese Tortellini with Pesto was delicious! And the bruschetta too (I realized I’ve always had pretty hard bread with it & this was much more enjoyable)

Our server was really sweet and attentive. My Italian sub was huge and really good, fries were nice and crispy with a Cajun kick. My boyfriend got the baked ziti and said it was good, also a larger portion. The Mac and cheese bites were disappointing. I tasted no Gouda, the inside was like Kraft Mac and cheese & for almost $10, we expected more than 6 chicken nugget size bites. The bartender was close enough that we could hear and he seemed miserable the whole time and told the server at 930 as customers walked in that no, they’re closed, but the open time says till 10 so idk what that was about. Overall a decent experience for a rainy Thursday evening.

We loved the service and atmosphere here at Fat Toni’s. The food was a bit pricey but you could definitely taste the freshness of each flavor. We shared a personal pizza and a their meatball sub with side salads. Very delicious and very tender meats. The pizza was cooked to perfection. You can get whatever toppings you choose! Will be going here again when I’m back in Wilmington.

Fat Tony’s hosted our group of 25 runners visiting from Charleston, SC the evening before the Battleship Wilmington Half Marathon. The GM, Erin, was very patient with me as we went through all the menu options for our group leading up to the event. She made great suggestions for appetizers and entrees, all of which were huge portions and delicious. We were seated promptly, greeted by Kiely, and served drinks quickly. They had a great selection of local craft beers and plenty of non-alcoholic options too. Our food came quickly and we never lack any attention, even with the usual busyness of a Saturday night. All the staff was very welcoming. Location was perfect and we were able to walk to our hotels and AirBnBs (right next to the start/finish line and on the water). Great experience!

The atmosphere was inviting, the food, not so much. We shared a garden salad that was wonderful, fresh, great croutons and perfect ranch. The pizza. Ordered 18″ with half pepperoni, half cheese. The bottom was burned to make it difficult to chew. The sauce was nothing but crushed tomatoes and garlic, seriously. Terrible. Pizza left on table, I took one bite, my wife picked apart a piece the server, friendly, didn’t seem concerned when I asked for the bill with all but one piece partially eaten. If you are out for a salad, this is a great place.
