La Pete’s is the kind of breakfast spot you return to again and again—not just because it’s consistent, but because it’s memorable. Warm atmosphere, friendly service, and a menu packed with classics done exceptionally well make this Independence gem a must-visit for anyone who loves a great start to their morning.
Let’s talk standouts:
Eggs Benedict
Hands down, one of the best items on the menu. Perfectly poached eggs, velvety hollandaise, and a balanced flavor profile that makes every bite rich without being overwhelming. It’s the dish you order once and immediately know it’ll be your go-to every visit.
Waffles & Pancakes
Both are fantastic—light, fluffy, golden, and full of that homemade comfort you want from a true breakfast spot. Whether you’re team pancake or team waffle, La Pete’s delivers the kind of plate that tastes like it was made with care.
Crepes
Deliciously thin, tender, and filled just right. They strike that perfect balance between delicate and satisfying, making them a sweet (or savory!) treat that never disappoints.
La Pete’s is everything a neighborhood breakfast place should be—reliable, delicious, and filled with dishes that just make you happy. Whether you’re craving a classic Benedict, fluffy cakes, or beautifully crafted crepes, you’ll walk out feeling satisfied and already planning your next visit.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A breakfast staple in Independence and absolutely worth the stop.

Food is great and cheap which is why im giving this place 5 stars. Everytime I come, the food is fresh! However, waiters are not as friendly sometimes. It depends who you get as a waiter really.

This place is a HELL NO. When you wall in and see the signs 1 check for parties over 6 and you’ll be seated when all of your parties here you can bet things just aren’t going to go well. Our butts never hut the charge and the waitress is demanding a drink order mind you we’ve never been here before , the others in the party quickly put a drink order in without reading the menu . I just needed a few minutes upon returning with there drinks she immediately wanted to take a breakfast order totally ignoring i had no drink . So I ordered a coffee that she went to get which gave us a few minutes to decide our orders . We ask to split the check and it was I guess so but I’m going to get into trouble . I get you get to make your own rules but to save a piece of paper is just stupid . Plates were brought to the table that a 3 yr old stated were dirty with food and again attitude from the waitress . So the plates were taken by a customer to I’m guessing the manager so that we could get clean ones . The waitress brought the plates back followed by the manager guaranteeing the they go through a dishwasher and are cleaned with several chemicals and that nothing on the plate will hurt you . ARE YOU SERIOUS ….. a justification of dirty food on a plate . I think Ive said enough we will not recommend or ever be back to this place

This is a large, local breakfast spot with friendly staff and good food for a reasonable price!! There is a parking lot which gets full quick so keep this in mind if you have small children etc. There was no wait when we went in it was a Saturday morning around 10am. The food came out quickly and our waitress, Kendall was very nice.

Awesome breakfast and great service. This restaurant is a great meeting point for those who want a nice diner in the middle of the east and west side of Cleveland.

Definitely not memorable. The waitress seemed overwhelmed and forgot all the bread with each of our meals. There’s much better breakfast spots to visit. Probably won’t be back.

Egg was over cooked asked for over easy. Coffee was half and half, One of the waitresses combined decaf with regular. Bathroom was filthy, filthy toilets . Worse I’ve ever seen, and I usually give this place an A+++ rating. No handicapped entrance, that I see.

A great place for breakfast as long as you get there early, especially on the weekend, otherwise you may have to wait a bit. The interior feels dated and oddly laid out with two levels running parallel the entire length of the joint. The service is quick and straightforward, food was out in no time. The prices are very reasonable, lower than most breakfast joints in the area with most dishes well below ten bucks and big-enough portions.

We were looking for somewhere local to eat. I went to Google and found this restaurant less than a mile from the hotel with a 4.3 score with over 500 reviews. Great food and service. Clean restaurant and bathrooms.
Large portions!
I ate here 3 out of my 5 mornings for breakfast!
