At Catrina’s Mexican Restaurant, we pride ourselves on bringing authentic Mexican flavors and dishes from Mexico to Minnesota. Catrinas opened our first restaurant in Oakdale, MN in late 2014, our second in St. Anthony Village in 2016, our third location in St. Paul in July 2018, and our St Paul Skyway location in 2020 located in the First National Bank Building. Founders Lorenzo Tejeda and Paul Marshall focus on bringing you everything fresh, authentic, and locally sourced. All food is made in house by the owners and chefs on a daily basis and served in a fast-casual taqueria setting. Catrinas also operates a food trailer, great for festivals, social gatherings and outdoor events. See you soon!

The inside of Catrinas is a bright and colorful place. There’s Catrinas or “dia de los muertos” decorations all over the walls. Latin music is always playing lightly in the background. (banda, cumbia, bachata) It’s typically not busy unless you arrive around noon during week days.
Staff:
Every employee I’ve interacted with at Catrinas was polite and always willing to help with smile. Most are immigrants, very hard working people.
Drinks:
They have traditional mexican drinks like agua de horchata and agua de jamaica, they also have mexican coke and jarritos. One of the few places that also sell Negra modelo.
Food:
This is my go to spot. Been coming here for years and I always order the same thing. A Catrina bowl with Mexican rice, black beans, fajitas, carnitas, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, jalapeños and salsa de arbol. If you like Chipotle you’re going to love this place. I think Catrinas gives bigger portions, better tasting food for a cheaper price. However their carnitas recipe is not traditional. They also have burritos, tacos and quesadillas.
Price:
I usually take a picture of the receipt so I can upload it on these Google reviews but I’ve been coming to this location for years so I know the price is always just shy of $11. I think its worth it.
Overall:
For the quality of food, the quantity that they give you I haven’t found a better restaurant outside of the twin cities. 100% recommend this place! The best things about Catrinas is their Catrinas punch card. After 8 meals you get a free meal.
Not a sit down restaurant with a server if that’s what you’re looking for. I would consider this a fast food joint like Chipotle.
The food was really bland. I got the steak taco and when they scoop the steak they had to drain the water out? To me it seems like they cook their meat and leave it soak in something to keep it from being dry. By doing this it also lost all flavor if they seasoned their steak.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth it and I won’t be going back.
It was one of the unpalatable meals I have ever eaten.
I would NOT recommend this establishment.
