I’ve been to this location many times but only in the drive through, which has always been fine. Today I decided to dine in and that was a mistake. The food took a long time to come out and my burger was crunchy. Also they have this really annoying system where you have to keep your receipt and scan it in order for the soda machine to work.but they dont tell you about this so you’re standing there like an idiot trying to get the machine to work. What is the point of this? Is there some gang of soda-stealing criminals that only targets steak and shake restaurants? Cause no other restaurant seems to feel the need to lock up their sodas fountain. Lol

Steak ‘n Shake is a mixed bag for me. The food is usually never great, and while some of the shakes can be good, it’s a rare occurrence. The restaurant itself has the most foul odor, which is off-putting. However, the guy who works the drive-thru is super cool and definitely makes it worth coming here. Unfortunately, the drive-thru speaker is the worst I’ve ever encountered–so bad that it just makes you want to leave. The restaurant is kind of clean, but with all that being said, it’s a solid 3-star experience.

I think Steak n Shake is a great alternative to the other fast food burgers.
Quality is top there (for fast food) I was in and out. Food was fast, fresh and very tasty. Will definitely be coming back.

I tried Steak n Shake 1st time in Sept 2025, and I’m in my 40s but I truly enjoyed it. I cnt eat alot of food anymore, but this was delicious and it stayed down. The only thing I didn’t like is I don’t like ketchup and mustard on my sandwich (mayo only), and my sandwich didn’t have any mayo but did have ketchup and mustard. But other than that everything was wonderful.

Google says this Steak ’n Shake on Coit Rd & George Bush is open until 3 a.m., and the business even confirmed that two weeks ago. I pulled up tonight with the lights on, cars parked, and someone answering the drive-thru… only to be told “we’re closed” and that I had the wrong info. If you’re not open until 3, update your hours instead of wasting customers’ time.

I always have the best experience with my orders when I come to this location. The food is always top tier fresh, I don’t wait too long, and the man working is so kind. I think it’s the best Steak ‘n Shake on the planet. I’ve lived in multiple states and this is my favorite one.

They kept the good food and got rid of the bad service.
While it take some of the nostalgia away from the brand can’t complain with the super low princess.
Instead of cashiers you order on a computer.
The system is fast and efficient. The food was very good and delivered fast.
The place is clean and it’s a nice atmosphere.

Today, I spent $7.66 to get a kid burger with fries which included the drink. I didn’t get the drink. I ordered a kids chocolate shake instead. They charged me $3.29 for less than 6 oz of liquid. The burger was small and tasted horrible. The fries were cold and the shake had no flavor. I will never spend my money at this place again. I should have know to go some other place because at 12:20 pm I was the only person in the drive through line. I’m so tired of getting ripped off. I hope places that offer no value and who rip people off close down permanently. Root Cause – Greed

Ordered a combo meal of a buttery double burger and chili cheese fries with a shake. I was number 106. About 12 minutes after I placed the order, I hear the guy call out “107,” which I don’t immediately think much of cause he has called a couple numbers out of order while I was there already. Well, no one claims #107 and it just sits there. After about ten minutes, I thought it might be mine but decided it probably wasn’t cause there was no shake with it. I give it another ten minutes and decide to ask the manager who originally called out the order if mine was accidentally skipped or something. Of course, he says, “oh, I think that one’s yours but it’s definitely cold now, I put it out about 15 minutes ago.” I express that he called out #107 when he placed that down and no shake had come at any time still. He insists that order was mine but then says, “I mean, I guess I could remake it but it’ll be another five minutes.” I say okay and ask if the shake could also be made this time and he says it should have come out on the other side. I explain it hadn’t and he just says okay. So, about five minutes later, my shake is made and maybe another two or three minutes after that my food was remade. I thanked him and left. I get to my car, pop open my chili cheese fries, and there’s a thick and extremely immediately obvious black hair in them. Gave up entirely on the whole meal and just left cause I figured the dude would not be willing to refund me since I definitely didn’t want it remade again. Would not recommend this location
