Visiting from the West Coast, I never thought I’d have to book a flight just to get a coffee that actually shows up, but here we are. Apparently, the secret to a hot drip coffee that isn’t ‘forgotten’ in the queue is being on the East Coast. Simple order, perfectly hot, and I didn’t have to remind anyone I existed. Five stars for the caffeine, minus one for the airfare it took to get a competent cup.

“I am writing as a longtime Starbucks customer since 2013. Although I am not a coffee drinker, Starbucks has consistently been part of my routine due to a simple drink I have ordered for years: a Venti water with four scoops of matcha.

Over the years, I have experienced ongoing inconsistencies in how this drink is priced and rung up, varying widely by location and even by barista. While this was frustrating, I accepted it because I genuinely enjoyed the drink.

When Starbucks changed its matcha to no longer include sweetener, I initially thought my Starbucks routine was coming to an end. That concern was compounded when I began being charged for a “Venti Custom Tea” ($5+) plus an additional $1 per scoop of matcha—resulting in a total cost of $10 or more for water and matcha powder. This pricing is difficult to understand, especially when more complex espresso-based drinks with multiple customizations cost significantly less.

At one point, a knowledgeable and kind barista suggested ordering a Venti Matcha Latte and substituting water for milk, as this automatically included four scoops of matcha and classic syrup at a reasonable price point. I eventually came to enjoy the drink this way, though the taste still varied from visit to visit depending on who prepared it. Nevertheless, I continued ordering it as part of my afternoon routine.

Today, however, I experienced a situation that was both frustrating and unacceptable. At one local Starbucks, the Gregory St location in Pensacola, FL, I ordered my usual Venti Matcha Latte with water instead of milk. I was told this was no longer possible and that it must be rung up as a Venti Custom Tea. When I explained that this would result in a $10+ charge, I was told, “That’s the way it is.” I calmly responded that I would go to another Starbucks instead.

As I drove past the window, the barista stuck her tongue out at me and flipped me off.

This behavior was shocking, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.

I am struggling to understand how it makes sense—either logically or from a customer experience standpoint—that water and matcha cost more than milk and matcha. After years of navigating inconsistent pricing, unclear policies, and now openly disrespectful behavior, I find it very difficult to justify continuing to support Starbucks.

I am sharing this feedback not only due to the pricing issue, but also because of the lack of consistency across locations and the serious customer service concern I experienced today. I hope Starbucks will review both its pricing policies for nonstandard but simple drinks and its expectations for in-store professionalism.”

Review that I am not only leaving here but have also sent to Starbucks corporate.

THIS PLACE IS THE BEST! I was here in my lunch break and the manager Mike gave me a free drink and compliment! Sweetest thing ever. The atomosphere is just lovely snd the customer service is out of this world. One of the best Starbucks I’ve ever been to! Thanks so much Michael!

Absolutely unacceptable. I ordered a croissant this morning and was shocked to find a hair tie sitting on top of it inside the bag—along with chocolate smeared everywhere. It looked like it was tossed in without any care for cleanliness or presentation. This is a serious hygiene issue and completely ruined my appetite. I expect better from any food establishment, especially when I’m paying for it. Won’t be returning.

Flipped my gf off as we drove off. No reason, besides we were going to a different Starbucks because she didn’t know how to ring it up properly. Iced matcha latte (sub the milk for water) real complicated. The day is January 8, 2026 at around 1:10 PM, for your manager to know who did it.

Have to say. Been to Starbucks all over the USA. Gold card member here. Always a great start to a day when your barrista is cheerful and welcoming. Not here maybe a bad day. Most of the staff gloomy and walking dead. My vanilla latte.. perfect. Having to wait 20 minutes for an oatmeal when the ticket wasn’t noticed on the machine. Also? Why have a lock on the restroom? Has this world become so petty. You have to lock up a place people need to relieve themselves. Sad in my opinion. Starbucks used to be a place to gather, rejoice and enjoy a great product. Now it’s more of an institution and it’s sad. Photo of the bathroom code and Oatmeal.

I entered the store and asked for a simple item, and I was told I could not receive it unless I made a purchase. I accepted that and sat down to look over the menu so I could decide what to order.

Shortly afterward, an employee approached me and stated that I could not sit in the store unless I made a purchase and then escorted me out.

The way this situation was handled was unprofessional and unwelcoming. The interaction felt targeted.

The place looks small from the outside but pretty spacious in the inside. The seating are ok. It can get crowded but not too crowded to the point there is no place to go. Nice mural on the wall. Friendly staff and quick to make the drinks if they aren’t too busy.

This is the BEST Starbucks in Pensacola! The drinks always come out perfect, and the team here is super friendly and welcoming. The drive-thru is fast and well-organized, which makes mornings so much easier. Even when the line looks long, they move quickly and still manage to get everything right. The store itself is clean and cozy if you want to go inside, but the drive-thru is a big win for busy days. Out of all the Starbucks I’ve visited, this one truly stands out for both service and quality. Highly recommend!
