I ordered the banana cheesecake at Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse and let me tell you… mercy.
Rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. The banana flavor is real and warm, not fake or overpowering, and the cheesecake itself is creamy without being heavy. Every bite hits that sweet spot between indulgent and comforting, like somebody’s grandmother and a five star pastry chef teamed up and meant business.

I’m not usually dramatic about dessert, but yeah… damn.
If you skip this, that’s on you.

The food was awesome, but my “Tiramisu,” which was pretty good, had a pie crust. Not the traditional style I enjoy so much.

Filet cut like butter and was seasoned a hair above my liking, but it was amazing regardless.

Dim lit atmosphere with a light at the table made it very calming and relaxed.

I would come here again.

Sinatra would be proud! I ate at the bar, Camille was the server and she was excellent! Beer was ice cold and cocktails were generous. The bread alone is worth the trip for sure. I had the chicken piccata, loved it. Menu is vast with salads, steaks, Italian, seafood and more. If you’re staying here or near, come on! Love in town….come on! Ask for Camille, she makes it an even better dining experience.

Fantastic upscale restaurant. Service was prompt even without a pending reservation. Waitress was polite, friendly and incredibly helpful. Food choices were varied and balanced. The Food was amazing and prepared wonderfully!. To-go boxes were offered without even having to ask. The portions were good sized and had enough left over to take home. 5/5 would recommend highly.

When you walk in the door, you are greeted with pleasant warm smiles. The atmosphere is amazing. The chandelier and the lighting is perfect. The bathroom is classic, clean, and neat. The food was amazing, and the staff was kind and attentive. This place reminds me of that restaurant in that mob gangster movie. That is truly a compliment.

Omg, I have always wanted to go Here, we went to the Johnny’s on fleur drive on Valentines day, Our waitress Keri was awesome, she made the experience even better and was easy to talk with and also great at recommending different foods to try. The food was phenomenal, I have never had a steak melt in my mouth like the one I had. The atmosphere was also awesome. If you can’t tell, we loved coming here. And we will definitely be back. Thanks again to Keri.

We were sequestered on 9/1 and weren’t going to be able to leave our location for 5 hours. Called at 4:25 to order dinner for two, To Go. One sirloin, one ribeye, two salads with extra blue cheese, one mixed veggie and a baked potato. $82. We realized it was a To Go order at a “trendy” place in a holiday, no less and volunteered to pay, in advance. “No not necessary”. Repeated the order and asked if there’d be anything else. “No, just the extra blue cheese and extra silverware, because the plastic stuff tends to break”. “Okay, did you want the loaded baked potato or butter and sour cream?”—“Just the butter and sour cream, please. How long?”
20 minutes was the reply. Great! We arrived 25 minutes later. We paid. We tipped and we waited.Ten minutes go by…ok I’ll use the restroom, (which was nice).
I come out, wife is still waiting, ok I’ll plug in my phone. Food bag is presented and we thank the concierge and hurry off to our assignment, three blocks away. We get there, get our instructions and release the other team.
Open the bag—no blue cheese dressing(ranch, instead); no extra dressing. No butter, no sour cream no silverware—even after we stressed we were eating at a remote location, we couldn’t leave. Ok—3 blocks away, we paid $90-called them and ask for someone to run the 6 missing items to us. Not able to help. Even after explaining I had two steaks getting cold, and that clearly, no one had bothered to check the bags accuracy.
Spoke to a “manager” who offered me a discount or a gift card. Told her we didn’t need either, just what we ordered. Then asked “How would you feel if you spent $90 and the service quality was lower than McDonalds?”
The “manager” responded “I think you’re threatening us and I have to hang up now. It’s either a small discount or a gift card or nothing.” I said again “I’m not willing to eat salad, steak and potato with my fingers. We got no silverware, no napkins, not even a breath mint-please, help us enjoy our dinner”.
“I can’t do anything for you. And I have you on tape, threatening us. I’m hanging up now. “Click. WE WILL NOT BE BACK.

Fran was the absolute BEST. Her knowledge of the menu was fantastic. She suggested drinks that fit us perfectly. Suggested the perfect protein for our dishes. She made this an experience to remember we will definitely be back for Fran. Thank you Fran

It’s my 40th birthday this week, and my girlfriend made a Saturday lunch reservation for our group. When we arrived, we were seated next to another party also celebrating a birthday.
After being seated, we waited quite a while and were unsure if we even had a server. Ordering drinks and food was difficult, and despite the restaurant being nearly empty—with multiple servers and a manager on the floor—it took close to an hour for our food to arrive.

Most of the food was decent, except for the coleslaw, which had an unpleasant taste. My steak, ordered medium rare, was brought out well done. The server apologized and took it back to have another made which came out long after everybody else was done with their food and was again overcooked.

The birthday table next to us was also experiencing food issues and requested a manager, which only reinforced the overall lack of quality and attention.

For a place that markets itself as fine dining and specializes in steak, the experience was disappointing. We spent nearly two hours there for a party of six, largely due to poor service.

With so many good dining options in Des Moines, this was unfortunately our first and last visit to this location.

I really enjoyed my meal and experience here! Ordered a filet mignon with scallops. Steak was cooked just to my liking and the scallops were so delicious! Our server was very nice and attentive. 🙂 Salad was ok, the dressing was a little too acidic for my interest. The most disappointing part of my visit was the lemonade but it’s such a little thing. Besides that, I do not have any complaints! I think that I would come back for a very special occasion.
