They have excellent pizza. The sausage is really good. I ask for thin extra crispy crust. I always order the Greek salad. It’s really good. You can call ahead and tell them you want a bottle of one of their homemade salad dressings. The Greek salad dressing is delicious.

My husband and I decided to try this pizza place for the first time, and unfortunately, it was a big letdown. When the pizza came out, it looked like someone had dumped an entire bag of raw shredded cheese on top – it wasn’t melted at all, just cold and piled on, which was completely off-putting. On top of that, there were so many chips covering the pizza that every time we tried to pick up a slice, the other ingredients slid right off.
Feeling like most of the ingredients were just tossed on without much care. The whole thing was overly salty, dry, and really hard to enjoy.
The service made things worse. When I said the pizza was “mid,” – meaning not great, our server just said “oh okay” and walked away. Later, when it came time to pay, she snatched the card off the table and then set it back down rather forcefully without a word – no “thank you” no “have a nice night.” It came across as unprofessional and a bit rude.
We were really hoping to have a good experience here, but between the lackluster food and the attitude from our server, we left feeling disappointed. Hopefully, the restaurant can take this as constructive feedback and improve both the food quality and customer service

Food: it was surprisingly good, the cooks put time, dedication and love into what they make. The pizza here is great as well as the pastas.
Atmosphere: Its a very small restaurant with plain walls but that doesn’t change anything about the service or food.
Service: Great service! They listen and care about your order, they don’t just write it down to do they’re job. I had Gwenavere for our server and she was amazing. She listened and cared about our stay. She likes to strike conversation and make you feel welcomed.
I would highly recommend Pagliai’s to those who like Italian or pizza.

Saw only one other couple.
Asked the server for the best on the menu and got a pleasant surprise.

Very disappointed with the food. Garlic bread was like something you get from a freezer. The bruschetta was the same exact bread as garlic bread. Way too thick not toasted at all. The pizza ingredients were just as good as any other restaurant. Overall, overpriced and horrible sides.

Absolutely love it! This is the third Pagliai’s I’ve now eaten at and it does not disappoint. Iowa City, Grinnell and Ankeny are all the same family and it shows. The pizza very much tastes like different people using the same recipe, probably because it is!
The best sausage hands down. It’s not greasy or overpowering but has a distinct flavor. The crust is thin and crispy (never tried the pan pizza this Pag’s offers). And I love the dark atmosphere. This is the newest feeling building among the three restaurants but it retired to follow the same feel as the others.

First time having this place. Wasn’t a huge fan, won’t order from them again. Crazy expensive. We got two medium pizzas, pan crust, for $59.23!! There was hardly any sauce, very dry. Cooked a little too long, crust was on the harder side. Disappointed. Thought it was going to be great based off reviews.

The employees were very friendly and my online order was ready in a very reasonable time. The toppings were generous and tasty. I just prefer a hand-tossed style crust rather than a thin crust, and the pizza was relatively expensive.

We went at 5pm on a Saturday. We’re seated, then told by our server it would be at least an hour for pizza. Might’ve been good for a hostess to give a heads up. An hour and a half later, my grandkids cheese pizza came. Our server said our meat pizza “went missing”. They are remaking it now and will give us a discount. This is the 2nd time this has happened to us! Half off the first time. Whopping $10 off this time. What is happening?? My husband and I love the pizza, but won’t go again after this last time. And the pizza wasn’t as good. Something has changed and not for the good. Service is also not good. Disappointed.
