The food was great. A couple of issues with going to the state assembly for coffee and food were the following. You have to enter through the public entrance on Broadway. Security were nice. Then find the signs for the cafeteria. You will be able to order from 2 places. The barista to the right and various options inside the cafeteria. The dining area is bright with a great view outside. They have food specials and good pricing.

Every Richmond resident needs to go here. Open to the general public, now you do have to go through metal detectors so be prepared. The food never disappoints and the prices are reasonable

Meriwether’s Cafe at the General Assembly Building offers a varied selection of tasty, healthy food options for breakfast and lunch. The food is served cafeteria-style after placing your order at the digital ordering kiosks. The cafeteria features a pizza oven and various specialty stations. The food quality and the ambiance make the overall experience worth the price. The dining room area features an expansive room with high ceilings, an abundance of natural sunlighting, and plenty of table seating. Designed for the Senators and state delegates but also open to the public (be prepared for security screening upon entry), Meriwether’s Cafe at the GAB is an excellent option for breakfast or lunch in Richmond’s Capitol Square district. Enjoy!
