Absolutely amazing experience at Afghan Shams Restaurant! The food was beyond delicious—full of flavor, fresh, and beautifully prepared not to mention everything is made to order! Everything we ordered was incredible, and it was so good that I had to meet the chef to personally thank them both!
The customer service truly stood out as well. The two young ladies working in the evening there were so kind, attentive, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. You can really feel the pride and care they put into both the food and the service.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great Afghan food and excellent hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!

The food is very bland. No flavor No taste. Definitely not Afghan Food. The Chapli kabob was burned. Everything was missing salt. Wait time is over an hour… The food is halal but they need to hire an Afghan chef asap or they’ll lose a lot of customers. Staff is very friendly but they have no experience in restaurant business. Very disappointed ☹️

First time having this type of food. Omg it was amazing. The lamb was so tender and great with the rice. Huge bread and beef was like nothing I have ever tasted. They are my first choice to go to for a great meal. Oh then they brought over some black tea. And that was like topper to a great night. Fully enjoy every part of the experience. Eat here. I highly recommend it

I was visiting LA from San Francisco and my friend suggested me this restaurant. I had dinner at Afghan Shams last night after confirming that all their meats were Zabiha Halal.

Afghan thin bread Bolani marinated with spices and served with Chutney
The Bolani appetizer was delicious , seasoned just done right and very tasty with the Chutney .

Chicken Karahi ️
Chicken Karahi Cooked in oil with Onions tomatoes and vegetables.
This karahi chicken was my favorite and the highlight of our dinner it was served with fresh crisp Naan
Qabuli Uzbaki Palau
Afghan style cooked with Lamb gormah served with basmati rice topped with carrots and raisins . The Qabuli rice had a nice Afghan touch to it and was very flavorful

Placed an order to go on their website, and when I picked it up they seemed confused. After a bit of waiting I was handed my kabuli pulao, when I got home the box was filled upside down and there was hardly any meat in the dish or rice. This is very deceptive. They need to be more consistent.

The flavors were rich and authentic, and the portions were solid. Place was very big, open, and clean! Most halal places on Brookhurst are a little more grungy, a nice change!
