Everything was absolutely amazing. The mushroom toast is on another level. The hamburger, probably the juiciest I’ve ever had in my life. The fish tacos were perfect size and they make their own shells. Then Douglas brought out the pancakes wow so fluffy and the syrup butter sauce made it one of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely a great vibe and a great experience overall, one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to

It’s my first time at the People’s kitchen. I had the “banana bread at work” drink and the chicken and waffles! So good!! Danielle was my waitress. She was so awesome and so friendly!! Great experience, great food, love this place!! Definitely will be back!! Thank you for making my first experience great, Danielle! 10/10 ❤️❤️❤️

My hubby and I enjoyed a last minute brunch here recently. The staff was friendly, assertive and welcoming! The food was top notch and so yummy!!! There’s also an escape room in the basement, we didn’t have time for that though.

Food was good. I enjoyed the biscuit and jam as a side to the chicken and grits. The servers and staff were very helpful and friendly. I loved the decor and atmosphere of the place.

I got the duck breast, which was delicious, but what absolutely delighted me was the beet on my plate! I’ve never had a problem with beets, but they have never excited me before either. I plan to invest some time in recreating these ones! They tasted like a steak, charred on the outside, smoky, and cooked to a perfect softness, but not mushy.

We had a table of 11 confirmed for Valentine’s Day at a 4:30 seating. They only had the table set for 10 and said they could just add another chair not another table. The food was so sparse that the main course was one slice of prime rib, tiny skinny slice of prime rib. Though tasty, I’ve had baloney that was thicker than that. I spent $1500 at this restaurant last night and it was embarrassing. My guests had to go through the drive-through after so that they could feel like they actually had dinner. Avoid this place. Like the plague. They messed up the order of our five course meal. We got the third course before the second. This meal was $125 per person. They should be ashamed of themselves. The “cowboy oysters” were the size of small clams. Martinal service, scanned amount of food, and overpriced menu. Look elsewhere.

I looked up restaurants in Lansing before visiting from out of town, and People’s Kitchen did not disappoint! Everyone from the hostess to the bartender (I ate at the bar) was kind and attentive. The food was excellent – one of the best meals I’ve had in a while! The presentation was nice too. The butternut squash, prosciutto, and burrata salad had a good balance of sweet, salty, crunchy, and creamy. The crab cakes were delicious, with plenty of crab, and the fennel citrus salad was a nice complement. Crab cakes are a favorite of mine, and some places add too many fillers. If I lived here, I would be back! The only possible note I could have is that it was a little loud, so it could be a little hard to hear your conversation sometimes.

So the food is NOT worth the price. My fish was super greasy and unseasoned! The fries had zero flavor. was warned that the food was not good before I went, but the atmosphere is what it’s about. Well, I like the idea of the “people’s kitchen, power to the people” thing, but I didn’t see a lot of that theme there. This is a huge waste of 145$ ( 2 ppl ). I ate at the bar, so I’m guessing that’s why I never got 1 refill. I’m afraid to try The Golden Harvest now ( I Heard the chef left the Golden harvest and went to start The People’s Kitchen)

Dined here on 5/3/25 and thoroughly enjoyed it! Service was friendly, the food was great (beet salad, fish and chips for one entree, smash burger and smashed fingerling potatoes for the other). The salad was great with fresh beets and both entrees came out very hot and fresh. The menu varied greatly as did the clientele – it’s always refreshing to go to a creative, locally-owned restaurant where seniors are dining next to hipster students and everyone is enjoying themselves. I love this place and always look forward to coming back!

Truly, The People’s Kitchen has to have the most delicious food in Lansing. Every dish is high quality and well made. Plus the waitstaff always gives excellent service.
Do yourself a favor and go for brunch. Their pancakes are the best I’ve ever had. Pictured are the Espresso Martini (amazing) and the Hippie Quiche (amazing). I have tried something new each time I’ve gone because it’s all so good.
