Family members Tyler, Daniela, Jesse and Catherine are thrilled to be leading Dajio, founded in 2009 by Doug and Judy Eifert, into its 14th season here on beautiful Ocracoke. As a group, we have 60 years of combined restaurant experience. From line cook, food prep and restaurant management to waiting tables and hosting, we’ve just about done it all. As a family, we dreamed of someday bringing our passion for food and southern culture to our own entrepreneurial venture. Every dish (new and old) has been thoughtfully created and our lists of beer, wine and cocktails have been carefully selected to pair with our food. Our mission is to create a destination where locals want to gather with friends every week and visitors to the island come

The food was sensational and full of flavor. The seafood couldn’t be anymore fresh. The ambience is warm and welcoming. I highly recommend. Also, go for the grilled banana bread. You won’t regret it!

This was the best restaurant experience I’ve had in recent memory. The food was spectacular. I had the Low Country Purloo and my partner had the seared scallops. The food was so good we couldn’t stop eating! The atmosphere was elegantly simple. White table cloths, but still casual in overall style. Not so loud that we couln’t hear eachother. Our server had obviously been doing this for a while. He struck exactly the right balance of attentiveness without being obsequious. Yes, it was pricey, but truly worth it. Date night perfection.

Nice vibe, with a balance of indoor and outdoor seating. Great service and good food. The menu was not as clearly marked for gluten as I would like, but our server was knowledgeable and thorough with double checking with the kitchen. I safely enjoyed some fish tacos with tasty rice and beans. I would highly recommend and go back if I get to make it to the island again 🙂
If you have a car on the island parking is limited but there’s plenty of parking that’s not a far walk from the restaurant. We were there end of May so I’m not sure if that changes in peak tourist season.

We had the fried green tomato and crab empanadas as appetizers. Both were flavorful and fresh. We then ordered a house salad with blackened shrimp and fig balsamic vinaigrette dressing to split as a main course. It too was excellent. The only negative were the margaritas which were exceptionally tart and had no tequila flavor. The owner was lovely to speak with. We would return.

My wife and I had a signature burger and a traditional cheeseburger. OUTSTANDING! One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. My wife said it was the best smash burger she had ever had. The fries were good enough, the key lime pie was good, but not tart enough for me. The 5 stars ride on the burgers. Bethany, our waitress, was excellent. I like the quaint atmosphere. Bottom line though is the burger. The ferry wait of nearly 3 hours was made worth it. The picture does it no justice.

This place was so good we went twice!! But dinner is where it’s AT!!!!!! We went during lunch one day and had the crab cake burger which was just okay. The consistency was more of tuna fish to me. That was a little pan seared. But we had Matt as our waiter and he was hilarious Omgosh, he had us ROLLIN!!!!!!! So we went back for dinner on a different day and had some of the best food on the island!!
Had the following: fried green tomatoes with bacon jam (AMAZING – GET THESE), crab empanadas with a green chutney (REALLY GOOD FLAVOR), Seared scallops in a corn like soup (scallops were so fresh and tender), blackened shrimp, cheesy grits (these are stone grits), collard/carrots mixture and key lime pie. The pie was a bit soft as if it had not jellied well enough together, but it was very tasty. Lime flavor was through and through and crust was house made.
Atmosphere: I absolutely loved the music choice!!! It was a combination of house/chillhop. My vibe ALLLLL day. We sat inside, real candle lit on the table, white linens.

But you’ll drop about $100 for 2 with desserts, entrees and apps. But worth every penny!!!

Dog friendly spot that brought our pup a water bowl. Got Fried green tomatoes with a candied bacon sauce, calamari and maple glazed scallops. Feel no pain (rum drink). Also got fries with avocado ranch and Alabama bbq sauce.

Best meal we had on the island by far!! Be sure to order the rum punch to drink and get the empanadas for an appetizer as they were the best parts of the meal! We ordered their Red Drum Special & Steak Special were phenomenal as well both topped with crab and everything was very flavorful! Service was great! We can’t wait to go back!

We were seated immediately and then the waiter promptly took our drink order. When he brought our drinks we had our order taken and the food came out fairly fast. I tried the recommended crab Mac and my husband got the special. We tried the scallops in a maple glaze and they were delicious.

My wife and I visited here recently after being recommended by a local. The food was fantastic! The scallops served up cajun style might just be the best meal I have had in my 62 years. We loved the atmosphere, the service and the live music wad nice as well. Everything was fresh and made to order! Great job!!! We will be back!
