We were really looking forward to trying El Burrito Loco, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. The restaurant wasn’t busy, only one other table was dining, but our waitress only stopped by our table once after taking our order. For the rest of the meal, she sat near the entrance having a personal conversation with another employee.
The food was okay, but not memorable. For the price ($71 for two margaritas, a ‘create your own’ combo, and a shrimp quesadilla), we expected better food and service.
The decorative style of the restaurant is fun, but the lack of service really took away from the experience. Unfortunately, we likely won’t be back due to the poor service, the high prices and the amount of time it took.

This place is amazing!! All of the artwork is gorgous. You have to experience it all !! the food is great, I had a taco salad it’s definitely enough for two, and taste so good !! Take a look at the chairs, the tables, above the bar not to mention the music. It’s an experience from the time you walk in, until you leave. Absolutely a must. However I was told they are moving this restaurant further down alpine and I’m sure it’s a better location.

TLDR: This is my bf’s FAVORITE Mexican restaurant, so I’ll probably be updating the images and food reviews on this review every once in a while, since we visit semi frequently. We’ve never had a bad experience
Recommended drinks:
Margarita -any Margarita here is great- if you have enough people, we recommend getting a pitcher.
Horchata – with or without rum added- I love a Rumchata!!
We always start with chips and salsa and we also ask for a hot salsa- we usually mix them because I can’t handle the full heat We also ordered the queso this time.
This visit he tried the burrito poblano- it was great- and the veggie plate E which includes a beans quesadilla, a cheese enchilada, beans and rice, which I also enjoyed. I’m not sure what the third meal was that was ordered- maybe you can deduce it by checking out the photo? Sorry for not being helpful!
The ambience of this place is great. I always enjoy looking at the artwork painted on the tables, booths and walls, and they’re usually paint some banda or norteña music, which definitely adds to the vibe.
UPDATE: new photos with new menu and seven seas soup – which I may be ordering every time I come in now! It was so good! Kinda spicy but not in a bad way- and SOOO much seafood in it!
I don’t actually remember what he ordered this time, but he enjoyed it- see photos- maybe you can determine what it is? I thought fajitas, but there’s rice in it
We both got our regular margarita and “rumchata” drinks- which were good as always.
We’ll be back, so I’ll add more photos and food reviews next time!

The food here used to be good. Now it’s disgusting. They moved across the street and everything went downhill. The cheese they use in every dish is absolutely nasty. ( I did asked what kind of cheese it was and the waitress didn’t even know) I will never go back and highly recommend any other Mexican restaurant other than this one. Their prices are also absolutely ridiculous. My kids wouldn’t even eat their meals. Also the atmosphere of the new building is terrible and crowded.

I ordered pickup of an order of five. I drive 4.5 miles to pick up some well thought out delicious Mexican meal for my family. When I say well thought out, I don’t waste my money on no good food and who I support. I visit this location, but this tipped me over to review about this food when I am hungry. Once I got there, checkout and everything was great. Until I get home and I noticed the most important meal was my own. So I quick have a rang back stating I didn’t receive my second order out of two shrimp tacos with bean and rice. Sure, I’m hungry, I’ll go pick it up while my family is devouring their food. I get back to picking up my food, and of course, made it feel like I was waiting on fresh food. Gave me an apology and gave me a $5 gift card to come back. What upsets me is that I was asked to wait and my shrimps in my taco looked like in photos posted. It wasn’t juicy nor fresh tasting. Over cooked and chewy. The crunchy taco was stale!!! I would’ve been happy if my shrimp wasn’t $22 and made undercooked would’ve been better!!! Also, my son had the same shrimp taco as me ($22), when I finally had the chance to ask him how his meal was, he said his shrimp was rubbery and crunchy taco was stale. He’s a kid, he’ll eat it anyway. I was too busy leaving the house to go pick up my food. Which you already know about my food. Then my husband’s steak ranchero was rubbery as well. Burritos Mexicano which has beef tips and ‘covered’ in cheese sauce, no guacamole salad, a side of onion, and a side of cheese dip.
Came to almost $30.
When I got my order to work, I sat to eat, and my order was the wrong order. A small ‘burrito’ with beef in it (about the size of a dollar bill), rice and beans, sour cream, and a tiny thing of cheese sauce.
I am so disappointed.
Please make sure to be putting the correct food order in the correct bags, guys. I just wasted almost $30.

So 4th time we have had our order messed up here. Ordered lengua dinner takeout and they gave me tacos. I ordered a DINNER NOT TACOS!. Didn’t realize until I got home but too far to go back. They just lost my business because they mess up the order EVERY TIME!

The prices are equivalent to other smaller Mexican restaurants in town, but the portion sizing is definitely larger.
Got beef and chicken on both plates and didn’t regret it – each item was flavorful. The chips got soggy a bit fast, but that’s because they had 3lbs of beef, chicken, and cheese sitting on them lol.
