I came from across the state to try this place after hearing about it on the radio, and it didn’t disappoint. It smells great coming inside, and the staff was decently friendly although efficient. The grill and pizza oven both burn maple wood, and the food quality was excellent. I tried the grilled trout with a kale salad and potato salad on the side. It tasted fantastic and I was thrilled with the meal. It was probably the best trout I’ve ever had. I’d recommend the Maple Grille to anyone in a heartbeat.

This place is an absolute gem. I am convinced this is the best quality wholesome food found anywhere. A farm to table experience.
A light smoke smell reminds me of my grandmother’s farm with the pot belly stove.
Very happy with all the beers.
The staff we’re outstanding.
It is a reason to go to Hemlock Michigan. Well worth the travel time off of i-75

Great atmosphere, steak looked visibly appealing, but extremely chewy even after being cooked more. Disliked squash. Should have gotten double order of potato salad, which was good. Beer okay.

Complementary cornbread appetizer. Amazing! We ordered a pizza as an app. Mind blown! Sides. Bangin! My husband literally left with a WHOLE burger after smashing the rest. Not that it lasted too long after we got in the door. He said that was great as well. The only thing that wasn’t A-1 was my entree. I ordered the chicken pot pie. I must say, it was a little dry. However, I was already stuffed. Took it home with the intention of putting some gravy to it. Ended up giving it to my daughter who after tasting everything(with the exception of the cornbread) agreed with all of the above.

Farm to table fresh, this place had a huge menu with very generous portions and everything we eat was delicious. The micro brewery options were awesome too, my favorites were the Blueberry ale and Apple ale (pretty sure the Apple wasn’t a cider because it wasn’t clear, but good either way). Seating was a bit hectic, which is why we ordered our food and double fisted our drinks. I can’t wait to go back, but likely will be in the spring/summer so we can hang out on the patio.

Our visit to The Maple Grille Restaurant and Microbrewery was a truly memorable experience. From the moment we walked in, the cozy and inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, which added to the overall positive experience.

Now, let’s talk about the food. The steak at The Maple Grille is hands down one of the best we’ve had in Michigan. It was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside, yet incredibly tender and juicy on the inside. The flavor was outstanding, with just the right seasoning that enhanced the natural taste of the meat without overpowering it. It’s clear they take pride in their steak preparation, and it absolutely lived up to the hype.

The potato salad was another highlight. It was creamy, rich, and full of flavor—definitely not your average potato salad. It paired beautifully with the steak and made for a great side dish. We also loved the cornbread; it was warm, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s the kind of cornbread that makes you want to take a second helping, and we definitely considered it!

What stood out most was the quality of everything we tried. From the main course to the sides, everything was cooked with care and attention to detail. The microbrewery offerings were also impressive, with a nice selection of craft beers that complemented the meal.

The only downside was that we were so focused on enjoying the steak and sides that we didn’t leave room for dessert—something we plan to rectify on our next visit! All in all, The Maple Grille offers top-notch food, a warm atmosphere, and excellent service. We’ll definitely be returning for more delicious meals in the future. Highly recommend it to anyone in the area!

Wow! The salad is underrated. Delicious honey mustard vinegrette. Came out very quickly and made fresh. Fresh feta, huge delicious walnuts, and really enjoyed the cream of potato too. They can really make a dang good Stout!

On our way to Saginaw, we decided to stop at The Maple Grill, a highly-rated farm-to-table restaurant with over 20,000 Facebook followers.

First Impressions:
Upon arrival, we found the parking situation and entrance a bit confusing. There weren’t clear signs directing guests where to park or enter. Once inside, we were greeted by a cozy, rustic ambiance, but again, there was little direction on what to do next. Several employees were present, but no one initially provided guidance until a waitress finally explained the ordering process.

Ordering Experience:
The menu is displayed on a wall near the counter, meaning you have to make quick decisions, especially if there’s a line. Since it’s a farm-to-table restaurant, the menu likely changes often, which is great for variety but can be overwhelming without descriptions of the dishes. A printed menu at the entrance would be more convenient.

Food & Service:
The food itself was delicious, well-prepared, and priced fairly. However, when we had questions about certain dishes, multiple staff members seemed unsure of the answers, which raised concerns about their familiarity with the menu. Despite the longer wait time typical for a farm-to-table establishment, the quality of the food made it worth it.

The Downside:
The biggest drawback was the lingering smoky scent from the restaurant’s cooking process. After sitting for an hour, we left smelling like we had been at a campfire. This could be an issue if you’re headed to an event or work afterward, as the smell clings to your clothing. Improved ventilation would make a big difference.

Overall:
While the food was excellent and the concept appealing, the lack of clear instructions, the rushed ordering process, and the strong smoky smell were drawbacks. If you’re looking for a relaxed, rustic dining experience and don’t mind the lingering aroma of wood smoke, The Maple Grill is a great stop. Just plan accordingly if you have somewhere to be afterward!
