Portofino’s is the real deal when it comes to Italian food in this area. While I haven’t had the chance to dine in yet, I’ve ordered takeout multiple times, and every single dish has been absolutely exceptional. The portobello ravioli is my favorite so far – I would happily eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I could. The flavors are perfectly balanced: a rich, creamy sauce paired with savory mushrooms and spinach plus sun-dried tomatoes that add just the right touch of tartness and sweetness.
The fresh-baked Italian bread that comes with the entrées is out of this world and the perfect vessel to soak up every last drop of sauce.
I’m so grateful to have discovered this gem of a restaurant and will absolutely continue ordering from here regularly. I can’t wait to finally visit the restaurant and experience it in person!

The service was great, the food more or less. I gave three stars for the food because my meal was not enjoyable due to the onions in the sauce basically being raw (or extremely undercooked).Plus the onions were in chunks, not diced as one would expect. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara with chicken. The flavor was ok, nothing out of this world, but the raw crunch of the onions just ruined it. I didn’t even finish my plate…which never happens. Thankfully our table ordered appetizers so I ate other things, along with bread. So…if management actually reads this at some point, please insist that your chef fully cooks the onions until they are soft and tender. Most recipes even add “cook until translucent”…but I suggest “cook until soft, translucent, and without any crunch”.

Great food, historically, but my goodness: do not order this food for delivery (Uber Eats / DoorDash). They have some real bright ones putting to go orders together. Just ordered 3 chicken meals that all included pasta and got only chicken. We’re all just eating chicken in sauce. This is the second time this has happened. No refund. No one answered the phone. Never again.

The best food and the best service!
I don’t ever write reviews or anything of that sort but this experience deserved one.
I visited with my extended family on Saturday—we were a party of about 12—and wow, we were beyond satisfied. The portion sizes were incredibly generous, and the taste was simply amazing.
Our servers, Pre and Ana, were outstanding. They were patient, attentive, and truly provided top-notch service throughout the entire meal. Them and the other servers even went the extra mile by singing a beautiful birthday song for my wife and bringing out a beautifully decorated tiramisu, which made the moment extra special.
Overall, the experience was fantastic from start to finish. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for the amazing evening, Portofino’s!

I used to come from Pineville to eat here and now I come all the way from Lake Wiley, SC for lunch and dinner. Order on their website and Use the code and you will save even through delivery services. The buffalo wings are great too.

The food at Portofino’s was pretty good – solid Italian fare. There was nothing special about it, but it was tasty. The garlic bread was really garlicky, which we liked. The side salad was fresh and fine. Linguine with clams in white sauce had a delicate flavor. It was good, but could have used a bit more oomph.
Our server was polite and food was prompt. They were kind enough to take us close to closing time.

I was told this was some of the best pizza around and that was no exaggeration. My first time here and Ana T. was amazing, her service was great and at this point she’s my new favorite aunty. The food was great! I would highly recommend coming here and I’ll definitely be back.

You can find a little piece of Italy here in Ayrsley, at Portofino’s. This place serves more true Italian style pizza that you might expect to find in Bologna… it’s not NY style.

Just for context, I’m from South Philly. I don’t like to compare food places, and I was really in the mood for some Italian and I was giving this place a shot. The first experience started with the delivery driver(Grubhub) who brought me an open bag after driving past me 3x in circles while I’m standing outside the hotel. The bag was open and I asked if the restaurant gave it to him that way he claims yes it came that way. He warned me that the bag was extremely hot and told me to be careful. I hesitated because I was like why wouldn’t they give you a plastic bag? He didn’t even answer the phone the first two times I called so I was already annoyed. I took the bag of food and as I’m making my way up to my hotel room I noticed that my hand is getting hotter and hotter and I have to put it down on a table while I wait for the elevator. My hand is burning. It’s scorching hot! I get to my hotel room and I put it on the desk and the bag is literally melting off because all of the cream sauce had spilled out of the aluminum container. It did not appear to be sealed well, and I had to get a washcloth from the bathroom just to clean up the mess. In addition to this, there were no utensils in this bag. The only thing decent about this order was the cheesy garlic bread. Riddle me this how I ordered cheesy garlic bread and they still gave me a brown paper bag with a half of a roll? Why the extra roll and not a fork and a knife and some napkins? I’m gonna make sure to put this review on Google as well and the next time I come to Charlotte I know where not to order.
Update: they had plastic forks in the hotel lobby since they serve breakfast. I grabbed the fork and peeled the lid off the rest of the way from the ravioli, the shrimp was overcooked and the cream sauce looks really watered down. This is honestly unbearable and I can’t eat it. I wish there was a homeless person outside so I could give them this in the meal doesn’t go to waste.
