Stopped in for lunch at the Iron Skillet inside Joplin 44 and it was exactly what we needed after a long morning on the road. Iron Skillets are pretty common at truck stops, but this one really stood out for the service and consistency.
Hot food, quick service, and our drinks were never empty. It’s always such a nice break to sit down and enjoy a real meal instead of grabbing deli or fast food. The menu is familiar, the portions are solid, and everything came out fresh and fast.
Great staff, great service, and a perfect spot to relax for a bit before getting back on the highway. We’ll definitely be stopping again.

The only meal I had for Thanksgiving and ended up sick the entire Thanksgiving day my husband and I had the same exact thing and we both started experiencing what was possibly food poisoning.. NY strip breakfast that made us sick all day. Projectile vomiting and diarrhea.. won’t be going back anymore..

At iron skillet, the food was exceptionally great. outside of the iron skillet inside the convenience store on the other hand I didn’t like the fact that the lady thought that I could possibly be stealing something out of the store because I asked her for a bag and she clearly seen that I had a receipt do mind you? I am of a dark skin complexion so with that being said, I didn’t like the fact that I was profiled that way.

I had the grilled cod with Cajun seasoning very good. Had the rice and green beans good I would prefer a wild rice blend, but it was all good. Service was great. Wasn’t any atmosphere very quiet?

Anyone that’s ever called a truck stop restaurant a “Choke & Puke” needs to have their head examined because this place serves up a great meal with a great price morning, noon and night.
I had the over easy eggs with corn beef and hash browns with a side of gravy & biscuits. I’m a huge fan of gravy & biscuits and you just can’t find really good ones around but these folks got it nailed.
Girlfriend had a cheese omelet, hash browns and pancakes that were out of this world.
There’s not a lot of late night places to get really good food but you can always count on the Iron Skillet.

We stopped here on our way into Joplin and it took forever to get our food. Then I got chicken parmesana and the noodles were like rubber. Probably should’ve just stuck with breakfast type food if I wanted it to be good. The store attached is awesome tho.

I paid $17 for a breakfast to go order. The portion was ridiculously poor. Untop of that I did the toast and biscuit was missing. With the high prices they are robbing us with the lil and short portion of food.

Decided to come to get a bite to eat and had the privilege of being served by Mrs Mandy. Not only was her customer service top notch, but just a all around beautiful sweet person. She was very attentive and so polite. I rank her as one of the best servers I’ve ever had period. If you stop in and get a chance to meet her you will not be disappointed in her service.
