The food overall was great. My potato soup was wonderful, my husband said his sandwich was great, but the chicken noodle soup was bland.
The issue was the service. We went to use a Kiosk so we could see pictures since my husband had never been here. We went to pay with the gift card and it went through. Went to pay the remaining balance and the machine froze. I went and got help and it wouldn’t work for them either, until the machine decided “it needed rest”.
After getting back in line, the gift card didn’t want to work. The lady behind the counter was very nice, but the gentleman (I assume the manager) didn’t seem like he could be bothered with this issue. We explained the kiosk issue … needless to say it was a whole process to get them to understand it had money on it, but the kiosk shut down.
Then our buzzer for our food went dead and never went off. It just wasn’t the most pleasant trip.
Moral of the story, go to the counter to order
I placed a large pickup order the day before for this morning: four bagel boxes and an assorted pastry box for an event. I received an email confirming that my order was ready. When I arrived at the drive-thru to pick it up, the employee told me to “hold on,” came back on the speaker, laughed, and said, “We barely got any bagels.”
I was shocked. I explained that the order had been placed the day before and confirmed as ready. Her response was, “I don’t know what to tell you,” and that they would refund me. I asked why no one contacted me and she said they have no way of contacting the customer until they get there to pick up. I literally entered my phone number and email on my order. They are just lazy. No apology. No attempt to help. No concern that I now had an event in an hour with no food.
I called back to ask for the employee’s name and was met with attitude by Destiny who answered the phone, pretty sure it was her on the drive thru speaker, so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager, Gale, immediately became defensive and said, “Ma’am, if you were a manager you would know you can’t control what your employees do.” That was her response, no accountability, no empathy, and no effort to make the situation right. I wasn’t even offered the pastry box that was part of my order.
For context, I am a manager and have been for over 10 years, and I would NEVER speak to a customer this way. Mistakes happen, but laughing about it, refusing responsibility, and showing zero concern is unacceptable. If I owned a business, I would be embarrassed to have employees and a manager represent it this way.
I will never return to this location and will absolutely warn others. Do not expect professionalism, customer service, or a manager who will make things right.
When I walked in, there were at least a dozen people waiting on their food. I ended up standing there for 40 additional minutes past my scheduled pickup time before my order was finally ready.
What made the situation worse was the complete lack of communication. The only explanation staff offered was, “They are really busy.” No one provided an estimated wait time and no effort was made to offer refunds or make things right for the customers who were clearly frustrated and waiting far too long.
To make matters even worse, when we finally got back on the road and opened our order, it was wrong. After waiting 40 unnecessary minutes, you would think they could at least get the order correct.
I visit many different Panera locations, and this was hands down the worst experience I have ever had. This store is extremely poorly managed and operated. I will not be returning to this location.
Even when an order is placed a day in advance, they are completely unreliable. On top of that, the employees and management were incredibly rude. There was no accountability, no respect, and absolutely ZERO customer service.
Destiny and Gale should not be working with the public, and Panera should be embarrassed to have people like this representing their brand.
Save yourself the stress and avoid this location at all costs.
