We literally eat here every night we were there the staff are all amazing and the food unreal.
It’s the best carvery I’ve ever had and we can’t wait to go back in the future
Firstly, my initial enquiry by phone….NO waiting for it to be answerrd, NO “I’m sorry all our staff are busy”, NO ” your call is important to us” nonsense, NO frustrating AI generated garble….my call was answered within 3 rings, answered by a human who was friendly, courteous and polite, answering my querys in a professional manner, booking a reservation for myself and wife without fuss, job done….a refreshing very satisfying experience. This set high expectations right from the start.
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a very pleasant lady adorning a welcoming smile, confirming our reservation within seconds, were were then escorted to our table, taking our seats in less than two minutes of our arrival. She explained everything to us, including how we would be “called” when we could go to the serving area for our food. we thought it a bit odd at first, this has never been a procedure adopted at any other carvery we have had, but soon realised that this eliminated the free-for-all queueing system scrum often encountered at a carvery.
What a great idea, instead of tediously standing in a queue, we sat relaxed, enjoying our drinks that had arrived at our table at the speed of light!
It wasn’t long before we were “called” to the serving area to view the comprehensive choice of food on offer, served efficiently by friendly staff. No excuses of “sorry we have run out of….blah blah”…. lots of choice of meats and vegetables available. Proper “joints” of meat displayed, none of the often encountered “ready meals” that have been reheated (yes, we’ve experienced plenty of those), a REAL, proper carvery.
The food was lovely, we both really enjoyed our carvery, very tasty and enjoyable. My wife, who is VERY particular about food said she “enjoyed every mouthful “, praise indeed! We both left clean plates.
We didn’t have a starter we had a desert each…again, an excellent choice on offer, not a choice of two or three as is often the case, but a plethora of desert options to drool over.
Interestingly there was trifle on the menu, I’ve not seen this as a Sunday lunch desert option before, so I chose this…sadly I was informed that this was exhausted, so had to choose an alternative….no big issue as there was plenty more to choose from, all tempting.
I elected for the “after 8” cheesecake, my wife had the banoffe. Again these were absolutely delicious and very nicely presented.
So, at the end of our meal I asked my wife for her score… It was a 10….I rated it as a 10 too.
The whole experience that we had here was, I have to say, exceptional. The friendly, attentive, smiling staff, and the ambience of the venue added to the enjoyment of our Sunday lunch experience. I honestly cannot recall the last time that I have enjoyed a Sunday lunch so much.
THIS is what hospitality is all about, yet rarely experienced these days, slick efficiency executed by professionals who know EXACTLY what they are doing and how to provide an exemplary customer experience.
Would I recommend a Sunday lunch here? Absolutely… experience and enjoy!
Absolutely craving some home comforts and this just hit the spot.
I can see this becoming our regular for sure. Fantastic service, really kind staff and soooo clean!!!
Thanks again
I was looking forward to a good Irish/English style roast dinner….
More’s the pity, it wasn’t really either…just a parody of same.
We like boiled bacon and in the uk, they like roast bacon…for me it was way….way too salty.
The beef didn’t seem like it was good quality aged beef.
The spuds(potatoes) were just paste….uuuhhh….gravy was nice, frozen peas are frozen peas so no plus there. Yorkshire pudding was nice but far too thick.
There’s no shortage of what they’ll put on the plate for you but if you’re going to do that, give a plate that all the food can stay on….
Overall, €63.70 for 2 starters, 2 carvery dinners and 2 cokes is not a bargain. In Ireland I can get 2 carvery dinners for €24 alone…need to do better…. We didn’t go back.
I like a small amount of salt but on the parts that matter….not just poison the bacon with it.
