The food is quite good. But the service and atmosphere were what earned the extra stars. The live music was just right. Did not distract and was lovely. Our server was fantastic. He made the experience next level. The food is very good. I think with a few touches it could be even a little better but that is not in any way a criticism. Nothing was disappointing. I just want a little more surprise!

We had a great experience at Cuishe Cocina Mexicana. The dishes are absolutely delicious and very original, with creative flavors that really stand out from typical Mexican food. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the menu.

They also have an excellent selection of tequilas and mezcales, with plenty of options to choose from. The service was very attentive and friendly throughout our visit.

We started with the chicharrón platter, and it was spectacular, crispy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. Overall, a fantastic spot for great food, drinks, and a great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back.

Had a great time at Cuishe Cocina Mexicana. The bone marrow was insanely good, and the bistek torta and tacos were full of flavor. I also loved the salsa flight, it was fun to try different salsas and each one had its own kick. Cocktails were delicious and paired perfectly with the food. Overall great vibes, great food, and definitely a place I’ll be coming back to.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a saturday night. I reserved the table for 2 online. Arrived and we were seated right away. My first impression was good. There was live music, the waiter was very friendly and knowledgable. To drink I ordered the Acapulco cocktail, it was Mezcal and guava puree. It was really good. We ordered the Queso fundido con chorizo to start and we liked it. For my entree dish I ordered Enchiladas potosinas that are filled with queso fresco and my husband had the Cazuela Lengua en Salsa verde. Everything was delicious. I highly recommended. I will be back to try other dishes.

Awesome restaurant! We went for dinner and came back the next 2 days for dinner because not only was the food delicious, but the service was amazing and the ambiance was great! Definitely recommend stopping by! We tried different things from the menu every night because it was all so delicious. It’s authentically Mexican food but elevated flavors!

We went because I wanted to try the quesadillas de sesos but were told they haven’t had them for over a year. They are on the menu in the restaurant and the menu online. I was disappointed because I really wanted to try them. I ended up getting the flautas even though I read some reviews saying the chicken didn’t have much flavor. I especially liked the crunchiness and size of the flautas. The chicken was plain chicken without a lot of seasonings, but I like it like that because the chicken absorbs the salsas. We had also ordered the salsa sampler. I am used to an order of flautas coming with guacamole and sour cream, so I was missing that. My husband ordered the salmon and thought it was delicious as was the salad included on the plate. He said while he liked the taste of everything, he would have preferred salmon served with a choice of two sides as he isn’t much of a salad guy. The wait staff was very attentive and the atmosphere is very nice.

I had such high expectations of this place and arrived quite excited. Seeing all the glowing reviews and media features, I was hoping to have a revelatory culinary experience, which is what fine dining should be about. I absolutely love the concept of serving legitimate Mexican food in fine dining that is oddly rare in the states.

So I ordered the quesabirria as the waiter recommended. It was flavorful enough but honestly nothing to write home about. The birria was quite good, great concentrated flavors of aromatics and spices. But it was about the same as the taqueria in my neighborhood. Good but not outstanding and nothing unique at all. And it was so greasy that it very quickly got completely sogged out.

As for the drinks, I was also excited to try such an extensive selection of fine tequilas. I expected it to be quite a refined offer of the best and I do love a good unique cocktail. That is, if you can get any in your drink! I ordered the cuernavaca cocktail. Sounded so yummy as guanabana.is certainly not a common drink ingredient but unfortunately fell beyond flat.

First of all, my glass came out completely plain. Just liquid and ice. Nothing to indicate that it’s a cocktail. By appearance it very well could have been a fountain lemonade. My friend’s drink also had the minimum salt rim but no garnish whatsoever like the other photos other people posted. Is it too much to add the cucumber garnish? Did the bartender take the night off even though I see him right there behind the bar?

But much more upsetting, in both of our drinks, we did not smell tequila, we did not taste tequila, and there was no buzz of tequila. At most, there may have a quarter shot of tequila, if at all. My bet would be there was none at all.

The cocktails only offer tequila ghosts. The broken promise of tequila. Getting stood up by tequila. The deadbeat non-existent tequila.

We paid nearly $20 for each cocktail, which ended up being mere sodas or mocktails and we didn’t get the booze we clearly paid for. My friend and I may not be Hispanic but perhaps there was an underestimation of our palates and exposure to cultural foods. If the menu doesn’t suit my taste, that is one thing. But I truly do not appreciate not getting what I was told I was paying for.
So it’s a hard pass for me from now on.

Service was polite so I will drop in one star for that.

FYI the minimum tip is 20% here

I went tonight and had great cocktails and amazing food. Taco Tuesday is a vibe. Great choices to the point of me devouring my food. Can’t tell you how amazing the food was. One of the best Mexican food restaurants I believe in San Antonio. Not a Tex mex restaurant but a great Mexican restaurant. Please try and I promise you will be impressed.

I dived into this spot on a Saturday evening after having dinner elsewhere. The drinks were great, and the live music had everyone vibing. Definitely need to go back and try the food because all the plates I saw coming out looked amazing.

Update: Came back for a birthday celebration and so glad we picked this place. The food is authentic and gives you a “taste of Mexico” Customer service was excellent as always.
