Restaurant indien à emporter Strasbourg Schiltigheim Bischheim
Reviews
While the taste wasn’t completely authentic Indian, this is understandable as restaurants need to adjust spice levels to cater to diverse palates. I appreciated that they were willing to make our dishes spicier upon request, which showed their flexibility in accommodating preferences.
Overall, a solid choice for Indian food in Strasbourg.
We’ve eaten at many good Indian restaurants across Europe, so this isn’t a knee-jerk reaction.
If you have an Indian—especially North Indian—palate, I’d strongly suggest skipping this place. The food is heavily Anglicised / Europeanised: extremely bland, very mild, and far removed from what would be considered authentic Indian flavour.
We waited nearly 30 minutes after placing our order (something other reviews have also mentioned). That’s fine—if the food justifies the wait. Unfortunately, it didn’t.
The food had almost no taste.
• The Paneer Butter Masala actually had honey in it. Even after requesting spice and the chef attempting to adjust it, they couldn’t make it even mildly spicy.
• The Garlic Dal was frankly an atrocity—so thick it had the texture of cake rather than dal.
• The Garlic Naan was not the crisp, flaky naan most Indians expect. Instead, it was thick, chewy, and gooey—closer to a khameeri or Mughlai-style roti, or even pizza bread. Perhaps Europeans enjoy this texture, but it’s not Indian naan. Across three naans, garlic was barely noticeable.
• The Masala Papad was completely bland—no spice, no punch, no flavour.
They didn’t even have green/mint chutney. Honestly, how does an Indian restaurant not have green chutney?
The only saving grace was a mixed pickle we purchased for €1.50, which at least made the food somewhat edible.
So my 3 stars break down as follows:
• ⭐️ for genuinely kind and polite service
• ⭐️ for being a fellow Indian business
• ⭐️ for agreeing to cancel a second dish we had ordered, as by the time it arrived we were already completely put off
Unfortunately, the food itself was a major disappointment.
Well done!
Whenever we are back in Strasbourg we will come to eat there.
Chicken Tikka Masala- over cooked chicken was hard like a rock yoghurt based and sour with absolutely zero flavor. This dish is supposed to be slightly creamy.
Chicken 65, a south indian starter mildly spicy in flavor.. however was full of color, honey and odd onion slices.
Rice- not properly boiled
Breads were the only good part about this meal, u really need to look into what u are serving. Understand the recipes and cook accordingly.
Entire food was thrown away! Thanks for the awful experience.
