Applebee’s in Athens, Alabama was a great experience. The food was good, the portions were solid, and the prices were very reasonable. Service at the bar was excellent, and the bartender went above and beyond by giving me $5 off my meal for being a veteran, which I really appreciated.
Update from Friday Jan. 16, my boss bought me a desert and he had one as well. I picked the small brownie with a small scoop of ice cream that only cost $1.99. It was delicious. He had a pie with a large scoop of ice cream. He had me get a bite of it and it was phenomenonal. I’m definitely going to get one of those next time. I can’t remember the last time of got a desert like that that was so delicious and full of flavor.
Good food, great value, and thoughtful customer service. I’ll definitely be back.

Cheese sticks were great- that’s all! Steak way under cooked- Server never even asked if it was ok!
Bill with CC sat for 18 minutes- very much in and out and nothing in between. Did not ask for manager because if one was there, well let’s just hope one wasn’t!

I’ve genuinely never had an experience before like this. We were a table of 4 and before we even sat down the food runners were yelling at the waitress that was gonna be serving us that she hasn’t known where the food goes all night and she keeps messing and at first i felt bad until we sat down and the waitress asked us for our drink order, once she came out with the drinks on a tray with a table with not only our drinks but another persons drinks AND someone’s whole debit card on the tray and walked away for a good few minutes attending other tables. Genuinely don’t know why she thought that was a good idea because god forbid anyone else was sitting at that table and not us they could’ve spiked the other tables drink or stolen the card. she didn’t know which was coke or dr pepper and once 3 of us got our drinks she asked the only one that didn’t have a drink “wait did you have a water?” as if there’s anyone else at this table… who else would have that drink ma’am? anyways she only gave us one straw so we asked for more then she took our food order and we ordered one appetizer and four entrees. Luckily one of the people at our table asked for her to read back the order because she had it written down wrong in the first place. Finally they come out with the food and no appetizer so we ask about it and she says she will check on it. she comes back saying it will be out soon and we say okay and we finish out entire meals with still NO APPETIZER. So she says she will check on it again and turns around to her manager and asks her to check on it and i guess she does and her manager comes to our table saying she is so sorry and she will take care of it for us, it finally comes out and it’s not even like we wanna eat it because the point of an appetizer is to prepare you for your entree. AND THEN after waiting all that time for pretezels they come out with a hair on them. we then get our checks with no discount or the appetizer taken off (like the manager said) so we say something to the waitress and she says she will ask her manager and it takes another 10 minutes for them to get us our final checks which was $65.

We ate appetizers and watched football game. Waitresses kept asking if we wanted more beer and we kept saying no we are fine. Next time we wanted a beer she said sorry we’ve served you too many already. We asked if we buy more appetizers, if she would give us another beer. She said no you’ve had too many. Unbelievable that she shut us off after two beers apiece. We will never patronize this place again.
PS: We told her we were staying next door at the Best Western and she still said no.

The food was good (for applebees) but I was completely unimpressed and disappointed with the service. Waitress was very awkward and strange. Was tapping on the table and was not very knowledgeable (may have been new? Idk). While we were browsing we happened to notice that the 2 for 25 deal had what we wanted and we ordered mozzarella sticks o em cheese burger and salmon. When it was time to pay the waitress did not ring the meal up as the 2 for 25 and we asked her about it and she said the salmon was not included. That was completely false. The salmon absolutely is an option for the 2 for 25, it is just an up charge. I didn’t argue with her because trusted her because she is the employee and when I checked the website she was wrong but we had already paid. I think it’s completely ridiculous for her to not only be a terrible server with no customer service skills but to also not have knowledge of the menu and give out false information. The total ended up being 55$ and some change and I gave her $60 and she came back with a $5 bill handed it to me and walked off before I could even ask for the receipt. Definitely won’t be back.

It’s an inexpensive place to go out to dinner with a variety of entrees for customers to choose from. The steaks are somewhat grissely. Not a place you go for a quality steak, but at least the cook is usually correct. Burgers and sides are decent too. Again an average, affordable place to eat.

We went on Halloween evening where we observed guests and staff in costumes and enjoyed our meal in a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere. We were seated promptly, had a very attentive server and good food. Several menu items were not available, which is partially the reason for giving four stars along with an undercooked steak. Steak had excellent flavor, was ordered as medium, but received medium rare-rare. Just could’ve stayed on the grill just a minute or so longer.
I took a star off for atmosphere only because of the size of the dining room, it’s a little hard to have an intimate meal with customers entering and exiting past your table. All minimal concerns. All in all, a good night out, close to home!

Great service. Servers almost always remember the ‘extra’ sauces, modifications, etc. Servers are great about checking in, topping off the drinks and clearing dirty dishes.
Menu has plenty of choices, but thankfully not TOO many.
Food is always cooked well and tasty.

Sat at thr bar. Had good cold beer, good hot food and bartender. Good place to relax and drown your single sorrows and chat while you get safe to drive. You will be taken care of especially if Bam is there. Great service and clean family-safe banter.

We enjoyed our time here. We had the cheese burger lunch and the quesadilla burger. Both of them were amazing. Our server Tracy was very friendly and nice. We also had the bar manager Casey come to our table to see if everything was okay. She also was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.
