They have great selection of stouts, Marzens and Bavarian beers. The brautwarts were super tasty – great local moms & pops atmosphere with a touch of modern. Definitely put it in my favorites, the staff was genuinely friendly and it looked like a family owns it not corporate.

Nice German beer garden style atmosphere and great German store in the front. That’s about all the positives I have for this place. The service is chaotic and the food honestly the worst German food I’ve ever had. The Käsespätzle were some kind of soupy pasta with random shredded cheese on it. Absolutely disgusting.
Replying to the owner: I did indeed order it from the menu. No special requests….

We finally managed to visit and had a couple of good beers with a pretzel. Service was good and fun to experience a German beer hall layout in the Bay Area.

The Gourmet Haus Stadt is located right next to the train station, so it’s an easy find from both San Francisco and the South Bay.

The best bit for us was wandering the attached German shop. An incredible selection of food, wine and beer that brought back lots of memories of our German travels. Plus the odd item from other countries, like Stroopwaffels! Looking forward to returning and picking up some food next time.

Staff/ beer tenders are friendly and can help you decide on a beer. They have lots of local and international options on tap. Indoor and outdoor seating. Long picnic style tables as well as bar stools. Food menu is German beer hall themed bratwurst mostly. I usually just get an order of fries with curry ketchup. I’m plant based / vegetarian so that’s all that I get. I tried potato pancakes and they were okay nothing exciting but good for a snack. Friends have gotten their meat options and they didn’t have complaints. Great place for a day beer! Cheers!

Years later- still great service, food and atmosphere! This is where you come when you want German bier and food. Definitely worth the long drive to indulge. Staff is attentive and thanks to KAREN FOR GRANMDMA’s PIE!!!! Great way to end our yummy visit. There’s a shop in the front half and restaurant/ bar towards the back. Will be back of course !!

Favorites: Susgage plates and beers.
The best beer garden in the neighborhood. Love the beer selection and food. It is cozy and has a nice vibe. Also, staff are friendly.
A couple of tips: it is first come, first serve ( self seating) and shared benches. The parking in the back of the restaurant is not restaurant parking.

We were delighted to find this wonderful German restaurant and store in Redwood City. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed, and the service was exceptional throughout our visit. The atmosphere was perfect and very comfortable. The food and drink were very good—this is the best German cuisine I’ve had in the Bay Area! They have a nice selection of German beers as well as American craft beers. My favorite food item—the schnitzel—get it! The store has so many German and European goodies, from chocolates and grocery items to beer and wine. We will be back!

One of the best German restaurants in Bay area, GHS offers quite good selection of beers and Bavarian foods. What is great to me is that Gurkensalat, Sauerkraut are amazingly awesome! It has so refreshing, crunch taste to it. Dill is so fragrant!! Sausage is good but not made from scratch, it seems to me like factory-made ones. Overall it was good German experience!

I love this place so much I almost always eat my food before I remember to take photos …which is why it took me so long to review this place XD

The food is amazing
The main waitress/host(?) is really chill, the food is always delicious. As someone who can’t eat most pork due to a lack of a gallbladder, I can handle the pork sausages here?! Which is amazing. The imported beer is amazing and won’t mess up my stomach. If you have dietary issues, give this place a chance. Prices are totally fair for the amount and quality of food you receive. Kinda want to gatekeeper this place lmao but too good not to share. Some of the best fries in the Bay Area also they have the best curry ketchup 😀

Love this place! It’s great to enjoy some German food and drinks there in a casual atmosphere. They even have authentic German beer benches! The staff has always been super nice and helpful. Prices are reasonable – particularly considering that some German ingredients aren’t that easy to come-by in the US.
