The food was pretty good. I would have preferred more vegetables,It was heavy on the onion, not so much the mushrooms and zucchini. The overall flavor had a slight sweet taste, I prefer just soy sauce. The chef did a good job, my filet was grilled as ordered. Service was good, atmosphere was loud as it was busy and people were coming and going. Overall a good experience with just a couple issues

1 Star – Witnessed Intimidating Behavior by Management
A LAWYER MADE ME REMOVE THE PICTURE!
I was dining at Osaka Restaurant on December 27, 2025 as part of a family group. What I witnessed from management was disturbing and completely unnecessary.
One member of our party had not received her food — it was never placed on the grill. When she calmly asked to speak with a manager, the manager responded in a hostile and dismissive manner. She stood extremely close to her in a way that felt intimidating rather than professional.
I watched as the situation escalated instead of being handled calmly. No one in our group was being loud, disrespectful, or disruptive. Despite this, the manager told our entire group to leave while we were still eating.
As a customer, it was uncomfortable to watch an adult authority figure use intimidation rather than communication. We were then still expected to pay, even though we were forced to leave mid-meal and one person never received food.
This experience showed a serious lack of professionalism and basic customer service. Based on what I witnessed, I would not recommend this restaurant.

The hibachi experience is five stars! We brought our daughter for her birthday and she loved it. They were so kind and accommodating to a six year old (gave her lemonade shots and let her hold two umbrellas when they sang to her).
We decided to return for my birthday and try the sushi. This gets three stars. There are so many better sushi restaurants in the Grand Rapids area, but we will return for hibachi.

1 Star – Unacceptable Treatment and Forced Removal
We visited Osaka Restaurant on December 27, 2025. We have dined here multiple times in the past, which makes this experience especially disappointing.
The cook assigned to our table (pictured) was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to listen to basic food requests. Attempts to communicate were shut down, and at one point my friend’s food had not even been placed on the grill.
When my friend calmly asked to speak with a manager (pictured), the manager was equally unprofessional. She stood extremely close to my friend in a manner that felt intimidating and told her to leave instead of attempting to resolve the issue. My friend asked her to step back because she felt threatened.
Despite no one being disruptive and the rest of our party — still eating, the manager then asked our entire group to leave in the middle of our meal. We were still expected to pay, even though we were forced out and unable to finish or enjoy our food.
This behavior was unacceptable and reflects a serious failure in customer service and management. Ownership or upper management should be aware of how this situation was handled.

Great japanese steakhouse with large plates.. cant beat the price.. service was freindly and quick. I didnt do the hibachi grill experience as I’ve done this many times. the sit down quiet experience was peaceful.

TLDR: I love sushi and it was good here at Osaka! Presentation was lovely, service was good. My only knock is that there was no music playing so all conversations were heard from all guests which made it feel a bit awkward… but other than that, we had a great meal!
We started with drinks: Mai Tai (Dark Rum, Orange Juice, Pineapple, Grenadine) and Hawaii lady (Captain Morgan, Malibu, Blue Curacao, Pineapple Juice, Midori). Both were deliciously sweet.
For an appetizer we ordered the Shumai (6 Steamed shrimp dumplings) which were pretty tasty and as expected.
We ordered the Miso Soup (Soybean paste w. tofu, scallions & seaweed) and the Seafood Soup (Clear soup with shrimp, scallop, crab meat, fish cake & vegetable). The miso was as expected, so good, and the seafood soup was so pretty and also tasty.
My regret is I don’t remember what rolls he ordered, so I can’t recommend what to get here, but I tasted all of them and enjoyed them all. So did he. So I guess I recommend trying everything .
I had the Sushi & Sashimi for 1 (4 pcs sushi & 12 pcs sashimi & 1 California roll). It was great and presented very nicely.
I’d recommend trying Osaka if you’re in the area.

This place always has the best food, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. You have to do the cook in front of you if you go here. The chefs are all amazing and the food is OUTSTANDING!! They have a good sized menu also so you can get something for everyone. I always highly recommend getting dinner here!

This place is always packed! I’ve been wanting to try it for over 2 1/2 years! It’s one of the 5 restaurants on my in town bucket list. To say I was a little disappointed is more than fair. We were seated in a cold corner of the restaurant, when there were other tables available. My sister found someone to move us. Mason, our server, was absolutely adorable even though he didn’t take my drink order the first time around. I was pretty much allergic to everything on the menu, so I decided on the Hibachi trio. Steak, chicken, shrimp, rice, noodles, veggies, soup, and a salad. With a Crown Jewel, my food was cold. I had to have it warmed up. The meat and shrimp were surprisingly under seasoned. Didn’t like the noodles even after being warmed up they had this gummy texture I couldn’t get past. The rice soup and salad were good. Needless to say I don’t think I’ll be returning unless someone else is paying.
