We ordered a few dishes, tikka, curries both lamb and veggie.
Very delicious and flavorful. I asked for extra spice and got it. Reasonably priced. Each curry tasted differently from each other. I had the lamb Gaon, gobi app, paneer tikka masala and tikka grill platter with garlic naan and cheese naan.
Garlic naan was spectacular but I’d skip on cheese naan next time.
I want to go back to try their biryani and other dishes. Had enough food to feed me 2 more times.
Also super friendly staff. Quality over quantity
It was a really good dining experience. The clean environment, the taste of the food, and the friendly service were all impeccable.
My companion took the plunge and tried the lamb curry for the first time… He thanked me for encouraging him to try it , it was so delicious! He said he would come back to try other dishes.
We ordered the combo meals with saag paneer and malai kofta along with naan. Each combo comes with two small quarter pieces of naan, which were not enough, so we had to order extra naan separately. The combos also include a small portion of rice and a dessert (rice pudding). The rice pudding was just okay, nothing special.
From an Indian food point of view, the flavors were on the mild side and the spices were clearly toned down. The food felt prepared to suit mostly non-Indian taste preferences, so if you are expecting bold, traditional Indian flavors, you may find it a little underwhelming.
That said, the food was fresh, well presented, and filling. For someone new to Indian food or who prefers mild flavors, this place is a decent option. Just don’t expect authentic Indian & strong spices or deep traditional flavors.
Just 12 minutes from Venice Fishing Pier, this cozy Indian restaurant turned out to be the perfect food spot after a long day of beach adventures and soaking in the sun.
After an action-packed day, we were on the hunt for hearty Indian food to wrap up the evening—and that’s when we discovered Tikka Indian Cuisine. There was a 20-minute wait, which was manageable thanks to their small but comfortable waiting area. Parking was easy and accessible, a big plus in the area. Given its popularity (mainly with local Americans), I’d highly recommend booking a table in advance—especially on weekends or holidays.
Ambiance & Service:
The ambiance is simple, clean, and fuss-free. Nothing fancy, but it delivers that relaxed, homely vibe perfect for winding down after a tiring day. Service was polite and relatively quick once seated.
Starters & Drinks:
We were welcomed with complimentary papad and chutneys, which is always a nice touch.
• Eggplant Chaat: Fried to perfection! The texture was lovely, though the chutneys served with it could’ve been fresher.
• Lemon Pepper Salmon Tikka: Cooked well but missed the lemon and pepper punch you’d expect from the name.
• Mango Lassi: Thick, creamy, and flavored beautifully with cardamom (elaichi).
• Lemonade: Unfortunately, this tasted more like a bottled drink than fresh or house-made.
Main Course:
We ordered the Shrimp Biryani, and this was undoubtedly the star of the night!
• Uniquely prepared with a lovely aroma, the biryani was packed with flavor and came with about 7 well-cooked shrimp.
• The presentation was excellent, and the spice level (we chose regular) was just right.
• For those who love extra heat, they offer a very spicy side chutney that elevates the dish even further.
• The roti was soft and paired nicely with the biryani.
Only small caveat: the portion size may feel a bit limited if you’re very hungry. It was just enough for me and my kiddo, but heavy eaters might want to order individual portions.
Extras:
They also serve wine and beer—great for those looking to chill out after a hot day outdoors.
✅ Final Thoughts:
Tikka Indian Cuisine offers a satisfying Indian food experience without burning a hole in your pocket. From flavorful dishes to decent service and a calm environment, it’s a spot I’d definitely recommend to anyone craving Indian food near Venice Beach. It may not be flashy, but it delivers where it counts—taste and value.
(P.S. Don’t forget to check out the food pics—they say it all!)
⭐ Rating: 4.2/5
We started with the fried onions appetizer, which was generous enough for six people to share comfortably. The herbed dipping sauce was uniquely flavored and paired perfectly with them.
Everyone at our table ordered something different, and every single dish was delicious. The food was spiced to perfection, with clear options for mild, medium, or hot—so everyone could order exactly to their comfort level. I cleaned my plate completely and will absolutely be returning.
Pro tip: This place is always busy, so call at least 30 minutes ahead before arriving.
Highly recommended for both flavor and consistency.
