Review for Chick-fil-A – Concourse D Gate D26 at Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW)

Deeply disappointing customer service experience at this location.

While traveling through DTW, I ordered a 12-piece nugget and fries (not a meal). When I received my order, the fries were missing. I brought it to the attention of the manager as she was filling the food orders. At the manager’s request, I reviewed my receipt and realized the cashier had failed to add and charge me for the fries. I understand that mistakes happen. That was not my concern.

The issue was how the situation was handled.

The manager instructed me to return to the register to have the fries rung up. Before paying, I politely asked the cashier if she would be able to grab the fries and add them to my bag. I was trying to determine whether I would need to wait behind several other orders, as I was pressed for time to make my flight.

The manager abruptly turned around and loudly stated, “She rings you up, I grab the food.” I calmly asked if she would be able to quickly grab the fries since again I was on a tight schedule. She responded “No ma’am” in an extremely loud and unpleasant tone.

Prior to my interaction, I had already mentioned to my co-worker that this same manager was speaking to an elderly customer in a similarly hostile manner.

At that point, I chose not to continue the transaction due to her attitude and approach. As I walked away, the manager said, “Rude,” which I found both unprofessional and inappropriate. I had simply asked a reasonable question while trying to catch my flight.

This interaction lacked the courtesy and professionalism your brand is known for. Airport travelers are often under significant time constraints, and situations like this require efficiency and respectful communication. Instead, I was met with hostility.

Managers are leaders and set the tone for their teams. Yelling at customers or responding with impatience is not acceptable. As an airline Gate Agent over 10-1/2 years I understand the stress of operating in a fast-paced airport environment and serving people from all over the world , including those unfamiliar with the process or facing language barriers , but that makes patience and professionalism even more important.

Please do better with your customer service at this location.

First, I have eaten at chick-fil-a in Georgia and it was great. This review is from Detroit Metropolitan Airport and our meal was sub- par. My wife tried the gluten-free bun and it fell apart see photo. Our fries were like the were cleaning out the bin and we got the crumbled leftovers. See photos. My chicken sandwich was about half the normal size. I didn’t take a picture, but I was dissatisfied.

Located near gate A71, I’m disappointed in this Chick-fil-A location. No salads on the menu, and no grilled items were available. Are you serious? After waiting in line for 15+ minutes, I went with the deluxe chicken sandwich. Not what I wanted, but i didn’t have time to wait at another restaurant.

quick service and convenient location. however they were extremely rude and dismissive…. and then they charged me 2 extra dollars for a kale crunch side with my breakfast sandwich? and then i pointed it out and they said it costs the same and not to worry (i wasn’t even worried about the up charge i just wanted hash browns lol) but it clearly said that. maybe im tired from my flight but i was extremely annoyed

Very nice and friendly staff, very fast service and efficient also. The prices were decent to be at the air port I took one Star away for the food bc the fry’s and chicken nuggets were a bit stale, almost like they had been previously cooked and then just reheated.

Ok. Not sure about the craze for Chick-Fil-A. The chicken nuggets were teeny – like the size of my thumb nail. So an 8pk may work for a dieting teenage girl, you’d need at least 40 to feed an average teenage boy. Maybe if they re-named them to chicken minis because they aren’t comparable to the standard size nugget. The grilled chicken sandwiches are nice since Wendys and McD no longer have a grilled option. The waffle fries were disappointing but no one can top McD fries. Notable ketchup packets (see photo). Great service though and luckily not much of a wait at Detroit Airport DTW for lunch.

The absolute worst Chick-fil-A I’ve been to. Been here twice in the last week. Today I was fourth in line and from the time I got in line to when I was served was 15 mins!! I ordered one simple sandwich. The place is disheveled as are the employees. Clearly this doesn’t fall under the guise of the corporate structure that stand alone stores are under. Poor training and poor quality across the board!

Store CFA #6107 Kali dark skin skinny employee was very unprofessional. He was rushing and over charging my order. His attitude was very distasteful. He walked away when he was told the drink was incorrect he walked away to the back. The managers was very aware and stated nothing to him. My drink had something in it as well. He chose to work here so he should give great service as it is his duty. First time this has happened and I’m very upset because I am an employee on lunch being timed. Having to attend work just like him. Nobody on the clock held him accountable very unacceptable.

I had a simple question about my bill because my order was incorrect. The order was supposed to be a 8 count grilled nugget meal with a side of Mac and cheese and a medium Diet Coke along with a 12 count grilled nugget meal with a fry and a medium Coke Zero. After I received my food it was not properly labeled telling which was the 8 count or the 12 I was charged for an extra 2 fries and when I went back to the desk the manager had a rude tone and snatched the fry bag and threw it in the trash. A simple refund for the change for the correct order with the correct food was all I was looking to get. Bottom line the experience I was given was not up to the standard that chick fil a is known for and proudly show cases.
