Im am not one to leave bad reviews. Owning a small business is extremely and I mean extremely difficult when you are starting up. However this Berry Hill long loved establishment just needs new dynamic management and the issue would be solved. Instead of offering me a new to go order the 20+ employee on the register was in hospitable when I ask for a refund. Bear in mind that food costs are high. This plate in the photo was $15 with a small soda so I got a refund . If it were me who has a family that has a restaurant in Nashville that’s 80 years old I would’ve gone back to the back of the kitchen and gotten a new plate and satisfied me, but that wasn’t an option so I got a refund and left and I hate to say I won’t be back cause I’ve been going to this restaurant for 20 years. It’s not just this restaurant. It’s many due to incompetence and hiring difficulties. People don’t wanna work. That’s supposed to be a quarter of a chicken. It’s hard to run a restaurant with all the carry out etc., I wish Calypso the best and hope you can find some good people to keep it going for years to come.

I arrived at 1pm on a Wednesday. The parking lot was almost full but I was still able to find a spot just a short walk from the door. I was seated immediately and had a server take my drink order within a few minutes. The food came out quickly and was full of flavor and freshness. I ordered the black bean nachos with chicken and extra tomatoes. These are my favorite nachos in all of Nashville. They satisfy every time. If you can, eat at the restaurant so you get the full effect of just how fresh and tasty the ingredients are. I also recommend checking out the menu online before going because there are so many unique, tasty options to choose from. Tables were quickly cleaned and the floor was well kept too. 10/10 I recommend.

Haven been coming here for 30+ years. Food and service is always fantastic! You can also get the dressing for the Lucayan Salad to go, which is great to have for salads at home

I was excited to try this Caribbean place. The staff was friendly, they had a comfortable environment, and the to go order was fast. That said I was pretty disappointed in the food. I ordered the lucayan salad with muffins. The ingredient quality was low and there was almost no flavor. I would not consider this Caribbean food by any means. It is closer to bland cafeteria food. I would be willing to try their chicken platter next time if I’m in the area to see if that is more authentic. It was 20$ for a salad and coke – for the flavor and quality I will choose chick fil a next time over this.

Got the dark chicken w/ the jerk sauce, salad & Sweet Potato mash. The struggle w/ getting the jerk flavorings as a sauce instead of slow cooking the chicken in it is that alot of the Caribbean flavors you expect in every fiber of the chicken is not there. Everything was good, just needs a little more flavor. The Fruit tea was spectacular.

Ate here for the first time ever this week and got the Island Burger. The “bbq sauce” that it comes with is definitely not bbq sauce but whatever it is, it’s incredible and I can’t recommend trying it with basically any food you get. The burger itself was delicious and the sauce just amplifies the flavors. Very cozy restaurant and excellent service.

Good food. They ran out of the half chicken so make sure to get there early. We were there about 1:30pm for lunch. Black bean dip was really good. Only thing I would give feedback on is everything tasted sweet, like they put some type of sweetener or sugar, and everything. Especially the salad dressings.

This is a Nashville Staple! We miss our East Nashville location but still frequent 100 Oakes! Always fresh, quick and tasty!! Consistent for the 29 years I have been going to this location, well it actually was down about a block in the Baja spot, but same general location. Bottom line, I have never taken anyone here that doesn’t love it! Quarter white with BBQ sauce and 2 sides is my go to. I LOVE their house dressing, deeelish!! Give it a try, you won’t regret it!

This place is splendid. I ate till my belly was full and even had more to take home. I had the black bean salad, and by golly it was a good time. The meal was around 13 dollars, and it has served me well. Definitely a place worthy of return.

Very good place for a quick lunch. Caribbean food done healthy. Best thing and specialty is their rotisserie chicken. I like the jerk sauce, it’s not as hot as it sounds. Bean and corn salad, mustard greens, and black beans are my favorite sides. As a back up the island burger is also delicious. As well as the loaded nachos and salads. You really can’t go wrong here. If you can, go for a later lunch so you can get parking in the lot.
