This place has changed a lot. The food isn’t as good anymore. Our burger patties were undercooked and didn’t taste fresh. The onion rings were good, but the fries had way too much salt on them. The chicken in the tenders appeared to have been precooked before they were breaded and cooked again. The atmosphere is cool and looks nice. The staff was not pleasant or professional at all. When we were leaving we thanked them for the service, just to be polite, and they ignored us.

I have eaten at the hungry hut a couple of times and they have pretty darn good hamburgers. I also like their onion rings and fries combo. I do have to say it’s better to sit and have their burgers when they come out of the kitchen but we couldn’t resist a lunch date at the lake. The burger was still great at the lake.

The Hungry Hut is tucked away in Shaver Lake. I have eaten here before. Their burgers are well-known. When the various berries are in season, Hungry Hut will whip up great milkshakes for you. My 1/2 pound Hut Burger was “supremely delicious.” The lady taking your order greeted us with a big hello, had our orders correct, and brought our food to the table. Most of the customers were friendly and enjoyed restaurant. Parking is available, but limited.

Ordered Hot cocoa and Hungry hut burger. Everything was good, BBQ Sauce was a little spicy for me and I left off the peppers so I wasn’t expecting it to be spicy.

Excellent Burger, Wild Ride
Why don’t burgers do well in school? Because they’re always getting grilled! Speaking of which, the Hungry Hut Burger I had was absolutely excellent and clearly passed its final exams with flying colors. The fries and onion rings were solid companions on this culinary journey.
While the food was great, I did find it a bit on the salty side for my taste. The main event, however, was the service, which was a truly wild experience. It seemed a bit understaffed, with one person heroically attempting to manage orders, drinks, and milkshakes all at once. The coordination between the cashier and the bar felt like watching a play where the actors hadn’t rehearsed together. A little more harmony in the front of the house would go a long way in improving the overall comfort and flow.
Would I recommend it? Yes, but with a condition. If you’re on a quest for a top-tier burger and your patience is legendary, this is your place. It’s a great spot for those who value the quality of the patty over the coordination of the service.

We really wanted to like it since it’s near our weekend home. But we didn’t. I ordered the Hut Burger, my buns were stale and dry. The other sandwiches that were ordered were just plain and kind of sad looking tbh (grilled cheese sandwich, BLT, and Hut Dog). As I said, I love to support the local community, but this place was just not the experience that we had hoped for. Onion rings and Fries were good.

The drive to this place is absolutely spectacular! However, once you arrive, the food makes the drive worth it! It’s a relaxing place with burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, grilled chicken, onion rings, fries, and the most delectable shakes you ever care to taste. The service is stupendous, but there may be a wait because this place is popular . There is outdoor seating and a couple of spots inside as well. EVERYTHING is fresh made. Due be mindful if driving up, you’re going into the mountains this there may be snow. Safe travels and enjoy!!

Fun place to stop by for a few beers and onion rings after a hike. The tap list is not very long, but they have some goodies, and they pair well with the food. Worth a stop.
Beware, credit cards are charged an extra 3%, so bring cash or credit.
