First, the Food was Delicious, and the Chef performed and interactions went above expectations. The perfect place to celebrate our granddaughters Birthday. She gave it an A+

I go here for sushi all the time! The wait can be a little crazy sometimes but extremely understandable for the great food. The staff is always nice and they never disappoint! This place has the prettiest and tastiest sushi Ive tried in Cleveland. I highly recommend the las vegas roll and the shrimp lovers roll

We were seated very quickly at the hibachi side and they took our orders promptly. We shared our side with another family but for some reason the wait time to get a hibachi chef was longer than expected. They served our sushi orders quickly though. I got the Salmon Skin roll and it was delicious. Since it was Monday we also got the roll half off.

I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and it was good. The hibachi chef and workers were so friendly and nice. It took a while for us to get a chef though and for him to start cooking our food so by the time I got my Teriyaki Chicken and fried rice at the end, I wasn’t that hungry anymore. Fried Rice was okay but saltier than I would like. The meal also comes with soup.

Overall, it was a 3.5/5 for me. Wait time was a little long for food for hibachi, but loved the service and sushi. Prices are very reasonable for families and the portion sizes given.

It’s a great Hibachi grill, entertaining and great food with a lot of choices. We had chicken, shrimp, steak and lobster in our group and it was excellent. You have a choice or regular or spicy seasoning for your food. We tried a bit of spicy fried rice and it was good, only a little too hot for my taste. There is room at each grill for about 12 people but when we went it wasn’t busy so we only had 3 others joining our group of 4.

Honestly I can’t believe they have no restrooms. From what I understand it has been this way for a while. Neighboring businesses said they are tired of it but they understand. The food was ok, a bit too much pepper, flavor just seemed bland compared to most hibachi restaurants I have enjoyed for years. Service was pretty good. Atmosphere would have been better if the rooms weren’t so cramped and the steam and fire wasn’t so in your face all the time. Probably will not go back.

Food was phenomenal as always, however I believe there was a miscount somewhere. I ordered the vegetable lovers hibachi (as i always do) which normally results in half a plate of vegetables. By the time the chef had gotten to my plate he barely had any vegetables left (see picture) and my friend ended up getting none because he over portioned everyone else. same thing with the rice that i got double of (some rice was eaten before this photo but not veg) very sad about that considering we still paid the same amount as everyone else and got CONSIDERABLY less 🙁

The staff was awesome as they all were very nice. We came in an hour before closing on a Monday and were seated immediately as there was only one other party at the other hibachi table. The chef was very nice as well, and even got my husband involved. He allowed him to learn how to spin an egg on the grill top and toss it into his chef’s hat. The chef also threw rice towards each of us to have us try to catch it in our mouths, which was extremely fun, too.

The major issues I had were to do with the atmosphere. The floors were very wet from how much water the person used to clean the floors. Another issue was the fact that the front of the building and front doors were very rundown. It was hard to tell if they were open, too, as the foot mats were pulled up under the doors.

The food was just alright, which was not the best I have had, but it was not the worst either. The noodles tasted like spaghetti with teriyaki sauce on it, which was strange. The rice was good, which is different for me as I typically don’t like rice unless it is sticky rice. I preferred the steak over the chicken as it was more flavorful, but again, I have had better. If you are in the area, this is an ok place to go, but I suggest you not go to this area because it is a rundown town.

Can’t rate the food because I didn’t get to eat. Got there thirty minutes early after driving over an hour. Seated us for 10 minutes and then told us they could not serve us they were closing in 20 minutes This makes the 2nd time we have tried to eat here. There WILL NOT be a third time. Would have rated them a minus star but the app would not let me. They could use a lesson in customer service. Would not recommend this place. Staff is rude and uncaring.

A Health Hazard Disguised as a Restaurant!

Takoyakai was an absolute train wreck from start to finish, and I regret ever stepping foot inside. Our group of four came in expecting a decent Japanese dinner. What we got instead was overpriced garbage, the kind of food that makes you question your life choices.

The sushi was a joke—fish that tasted like it had been thawed and re-frozen multiple times, rice that was cold and clumped together like paste, and rolls that fell apart the moment you picked them up. The takoyaki was a mushy mess—undercooked on the inside, soggy outside, and completely flavorless. Nothing we ordered had any redeeming quality. We ended up leaving most of the food untouched, and that was probably the smartest thing we did all night.

Service was an insult. We sat for almost 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, and when they did, it was like they were doing us a favor. Our server barely spoke, got our order wrong, didn’t check in once, and looked annoyed every time we tried to ask for anything. Zero professionalism, zero hospitality.

On top of that, the atmosphere was unbearable. Giant overhead fans blasted so loud it felt like we were dining inside an airplane hangar. No exaggeration—we literally had to shout across the table just to hear each other. It completely killed any chance of conversation or enjoyment. It was miserable.

Then came the final blow: that night, my wife came down with severe food poisoning. Violent vomiting, fever, stomach cramps, the works. We had to rush her to urgent care. She didn’t eat anything else that day, and none of this started until after that meal, so we know exactly where it came from.

Takoyakai isn’t just a bad restaurant—it’s a health risk. The food is trash, the staff couldn’t care less, and the environment is hostile to basic human interaction. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this dump.

Our chef had lots of fun energy and did a great job! Everything was delicious! We were given large portions that we took home and got to enjoy again. We want to go back and try more items on their menu. The tako yaki balls are soft and flavorful.
