A friend and I went to Wine Whisperer in Short Pump for dinner and to try their “personality test” flight (Dealer’s Choice), and it was such a fun and intriguing experience. Answering a handful of simple questions somehow led to the perfect glass of wine. Our flights were spot-on and honestly taught us a lot about our own preferences.
I’m someone who usually orders a Pinot Noir or Malbec but couldn’t really explain why or identify specific flavors — this experience helped change that. The questions ranged from your favorite color and fruit (not grapes ) to where you’d go on an all-expenses-paid vacation, and it was fascinating how accurately those answers translated into wine selections.
The wine itself was lovely, and learning that they receive new wines weekly really stood out to me. I’ve been part of several wine clubs in the past that rotate very little, so this felt refreshing and exciting.
The service model felt similar to a vineyard or winery — very “all hands on deck.” While a second server did repeat some of the same information we had already heard, the overall service was fantastic. Our glasses stayed full, the table was cleared promptly, and we were well taken care of while enjoying charcuterie boards and shareables. The rotating seasonal menu (currently their alpine ski season) was a fun touch as well.
Overall, a unique and enjoyable experience that I’d absolutely recommend — especially if you want to learn more about your wine personality.

I have been here 3 separate times with 3 separate groups of friends, and every single one of them has commented on how amazing this place is. My one gripe is that it can get expensive. The food is really good but that’s also where the bill can add up quick.
The real star of the show here is obviously going to be their wine selection. But what makes this place a cut above the rest, and the reason all my friends and I have loved it, is the flight option for a very reasonable $17.00 (as of this writing) where you tell your server what notes you like, what categories of wine you want, etc. and the sommeliers will choose 3 wines for you. They have never missed; even if something isn’t your cup of tea, I guarantee you will find the tasting experience interesting. It’s almost like a personality test for wine! You get a little card with the names of the wines where you can rate them and take notes.
The staff are friendly to a fault and extremely knowledgeable. Last time I went, we were given a full history of one of our wines with narratives from two separate sommeliers about the grapes, processes, region and so on.
I will absolutely be coming back and introducing all of my friends and visiting family to The Wine Whisperer. I cannot overstate how great the experience was.

I brought my wife here for her birthday! This was our first time visiting The Wine Whisperer. My wife and I had an absolutely great time! The dealers’ choice wine flight selections were all so amazing! The raclette nibble/appetizer was so delicious! As well as the chocolate caramel souffle, which was divine. My wife and I will definitely come back again.

Must visit for anyone who likes wine. This is also a great place for a small bite to eat as well. The seating area is small with only a few tables to sometimes difficult to get a spot, worth the wait though. There is a special flight where the staff will ask you questions about your wine preferences and curate a flight for you, I get this every time. Great way to discover new wines

I stopped in for a late lunch with a couple of friends. I visited previously and really enjoyed visit and was incredibly impressed with the staff. This time the employee at the front was great and explained the membership options and different wines. The server in the cafe was not friendly or engaging which was disappointing since on my last visit I really enjoyed ordering the dealer’s choice wine flight and chatting with the server about the different wines. This time the server seemed annoyed and served my friends the same wine flights which didn’t allow us to sample. Unfortunately this time we were not impressed with the wine choices like we were last time. I gave it four stars based on my first visit which was a 5 star visit and this time which was a 3 star visit. The food on both visits was fantastic!

What will you find at this hidden gem in short pump? Everything your wine loving heart could possibly desire!!! If you are new to wine, a sommelier level pro, or want to start learning– this is your place. Jenna the owner and John the manager are so welcoming, knowledgeable, down to earth and conversational! It feels like stepping into your own wine cellar with a wine best friend to help you try something new or find an old favorite. And they really know wine, like love it and the science of it, but not in a pretentious way at all. The selection is unlike anything else Ive found in the area, I dont even bother going anywhere else now. The new wine bar was fully booked when we stopped in, so definitely book ahead to get a spot on a weekend. I know we will be! I’ll update with more pics once we pick a day to enjoy the wine bar, but seriously, go!
UPDATE:
We took the bubbles class in December here at it was SO FUN. We got to learn about and try so many different sparkling wines and champagnes- some at some price points we may never be able to buy on our own which was really cool. We then headed over to the wine bar from the private event room and enjoyed a couple more glasses and some snacks. One of the owners was bartending and made some great recommendations and even surprised my husband with a custom dessert for his birthday. I would go here every week if my schedule let me! Go today peep, you won’t know what you’re missing until you do!

What an incredible space with passionate owners! Our group of ten visited in the first soft opening night as the first official customers, and it was a delight. Knowledgeable owners, fabulous recommendations, and great wine, the ambiance was also lovely. Will be a return customer. Highly recommend this great new gem!

Stopped in, spur of the moment. We were looking for a place to enjoy a bite and a glass of wine. WW was open at 4 so in we went. The staff was welcoming and friendly. We like sitting at the bar so we can harass the bartender. Josh was at the helm and was very helpful in suggesting wines we might enjoy. We decided on flights and enjoyed 6 different wines, deciding on a Pinot Noir, however all were very good. The menu was tapas style, so my wife and I enjoyed small bites. My hunger superseded my priorities and the food was practically gone before I realized “hey, I might want to do a review of this place”. So the only pic I got was the last bite of apple, prosciutto, gorgonzola, and arugula flatbread. The one thing I would ask is the pour be a tad more generous on your glass of wine, just another ounce or two. We look forward to returning!
Update: Second time was more sublime! We had not been back for months and the hostess remembered us, what we do and did for a living, quite remarkable. I am intrigued with the level of service they provide, very personal. We had, what they call Panzanella, but there was very littIe bread compared to the usual Italian fare (second photo). It was a delicious twist on the concept. I am pretty sure the tables around us saw it served, heard my wife and I saying how great it was, and before we knew it, Panzanelle (yes, that is the plural form) were flying out of the kitchen! We really like this place!

A lovely space with lovely people who know wine. Enjoy the warm atmosphere and friendly owners, Jenna and Amber. The wine bar offers several wines by the glass and bottle. There are delicious small plate and entree options. Josh has recommended and served us many delightful wines we would not have thought to try. Ask him to run through his questionnaire for a personal recommendation.

Came here to have a different dining experience and it definitely met that criteria.
We decided to get the Philly sliders, Margherita Pizza, and Wagyu baked pasta. Out of the three I’d highly recommend the pasta as it’s a unique dish that was as good as it looked.
The experience is what made this a 5 star dinner with the waiter being a wine connoisseur he knew we weren’t big wine drinkers but gave us 3 sample wines based on we like outside of alcohol and found 1 that we ended up buying a bottle of after our dinner because it was that good.
Highly recommend this place for a fun different type of dinner.
