One of the BEST meals I’ve had in a long time!!! The cheesy chicken fried with gravy is life changing.. but seriously it is worth the try. The cabbage was the best I’ve ever had. The black eyed peas were flavorful and cooked perfectly. And the service was attentive and super friendly. WE WILL BE BACK!

Giirrrlll them porkchops were big
Dined in with my little family and it was delicious. Although there was only one waitress with people pouring in, the service was excellent and food came out quick and fresh. Like hot hot fresh! We’ll definitely be back to try the breakfast part

Been there twice so far. Service was very slow both times. The 1st time, the food was pretty good. The 2nd time, not so good at all. I ordered the fish and shrimp with Mac n’ cheese and cole slaw. I received mashed potatoes and green beans for my sides instead. My husband asked for no lettuce on his burger yet it was loaded with lettuce. And no, they were not busy at all. It also took at least 45 minutes to get our order that was all for takeout. When I tried calling to speak with management, there was none. Needless to say, I didn’t eat my dinner since I didn’t want to eat just fish and shrimp. Don’t think I’ll be going back any time soon

Old country feeling restaurant when you get inside before I forget it’s almost impossible to reach.. If you have step climbing issues. I included a pic. She had the meatloaf, and it was fine, but we have an incredible recipe that we just shouldn’t even compare against. But yeah, she also had the okra and mashed potatoes which were fine.
I had the loaded, mashed potatoes and the chicken fried steak. Put the queso on it, and that’s pretty good. I gotta tell ya the loaded potatoes were way too thin. They had too much milk or something in them, and the broccoli Casserole was like soup, so there was just too much fluid in both of the vegetables. The taste was fine, and I enjoyed it. Especially the chicken fried steak. We go a couple of times a year because it’s always fine, and it’s just a nice little change getting out of town…

Delicious and welcoming local restaurant with Southern and Tex Mex staples.
Their chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and veggie sides were delicious. We had the broccoli rice casserole, fried okra, green beans, and sweet potato fries. They have a great variety of pies and cakes, including a brownie-like chocolate cake.
They share street parking with the rest of the downtown strip and sit opposite a park.

Had the Chicken Fried Steak with eggs, hashbrowns, and a biscuit… basic food that needed a bit more seasoning. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the breading was nice and crispy. Didn’t receive my biscuit until my meal was pretty much finished. The server we had was distracted by other people for sure, and getting her attention was a little hard. Overall, decent food for a good price.

So I usually go to Lucy’s for like they breakfast and I’ve had their chicken fried steak and some other things in the menu and they’re usually pretty good especially their pancakes however I went the other day and I ordered breakfast tacos and the woman at the front who is always nice and pleasant ask me if I wanted flour tortilla or corn tortilla and I told her flour so I left there and got down the road and realized she gave me corn tortillas I still try to eat one of them since I was very hungry but I just couldn’t force myself to continue to eat it. So I called them on the phone and I let them know hey you gave me the wrong tortilla the woman on the phone said well okay just come back. Then she calls me back and say oh you got to bring the other ones back so I was like okay I went there she wanted them back first she went in the back and I heard the cook talking noise and then she took my breakfast taco back and gave it back to me after she took the ingredients back in the back put them on the flour tortilla added a little bit more lettuce on it and sent me on my way. Let me say that is not a good feeling and that is definitely not good customer service you didn’t want to just throw away and remake a $3 taco and then got the nerve to be in the back talking noise about it because you guys put the wrong tortilla. I’ve been there a lot since I moved to this area but that experience made me just not want to go back if you’re the chef and you don’t care about the people and then I just can’t get down with that.

The Chicken Fried Steak is great!
The brown Gravy was the best I’ve had in a while. Don’t let the look deter you from going in and tasting the great food served up here.
Nice little place, staff was fast and attentive.
Large open area, lots of tables. Great location in downtown Elgin. The pies and cakes looked amazing.

My Wife and I went to support the local business. The ambiance is homemade and the service was like the scene in a movie. The host and waitress was nice. However, it took awhile for us to get our food (maybe they were understaffed).

The serving size were pretty big for your money’s worth. The food was tasty and well seasoned. If you live in Elgin, and like breakfast, support your local restaurant. Give Lucy’s Kitchen a try.
