I haven’t been to Famous Dave’s in awhile and for date night we decided to try it out. We scheduled 6pm reservations for 4, we’re told it would be a 5 to 10 minute wait, that turned into about a 40 minute wait. There were some younger guys up front hosting and cleaning tables and seemed to be really overwhelmed and confused as to where to seat guests and the lobby was overflowing with waiting guests. Once seated, our waitress came about 5 minutes in to get drink & appetizer orders and the drinks alone took about 15-20 minutes to make it to the table. I’m not one to complain, but there definitely needed to be some leadership and organization as you could tell the staff was really overwhelmed. Another waitress came to take our order and we advised her that someone had been helping us and then there were some words amongst the two as to who’s table it was, and it got very awkward. Nonetheless, our waitress was great and super friendly and in speaking with her she had been there since they opened and was working a double shift. The food itself was mediocre and a bit pricey for the quality. We ordered the sampler appetizer, shrimp basket, sassy salad, and two 3 meat combos with brisket, pulled pork and fried chicken (one with rib tips instead of brisket) with mac n cheese and wilber beans as the side. I liked the catfish fingers, but we all agreed they were very salty. The chicken strip were great as well as the bone-in wings. I wasn’t too impressed with the rib tips (waaay to much bone and fat) brisket (dry) , chopped pork (bland), beans (odd flavor) or Mac (too runny and not what you think a mac n cheese should be) but the fried chicken was delicious, just very small portions. Hands down they have the BEST lemonade. I’d possibly go back, but it wouldn’t be my 1st choice.. nor my 2nd, 3rd or 4th

It was good but not great. The ribs are definitely the best meat option, and if we go back, I’ll get those.
It was pretty expensive, about $25 a person including a drink but not including tip. You can probably finish all the food on your tray as portion sizes are reasonable.
I had burnt ends and roasted chicken. The chicken was a little dry but the flavor was alright. The burnt ends had a nice flavor though.
I’d go back but it probably won’t be my first choice.
They also offer a military discount.

Cracker Barrel had a 40 minute wait – so glad because we came here instead and it was fantastic.
Georgia chopped pork sandwich was amazing – juicy, tender meat with their tangy rich and sassy bbq sauce and topped with creamy coleslaw.
Dave’s mac & cheese had bits of corn and jalapeños for a surprising kick that is now a favorite!
Their spicy pickles were also great!
The cornbread muffin was a little piece of heaven. I wanted to take more home with me.
Our server was awesome- he made a custom blackberry ice tea, half sweet.
We will be back!!

Was staying at the La Quinta directly behind Famous Dave’s, so I had a chance to finally have some of their BBQ. I got the salmon, and it was amazing. The corn and the mac and cheese were fantastic as well. My companion had the boneless wings, and they really enjoyed those as well. I also got the walnut brownie desert which was very good, and HUGE.
All the people we interacted with were great as well. Very impressed overall.

Normally I wouldn’t review a chain, but after moving away from the Midwest 3 years ago, we were excited to come across a Dave’s.
Food: Tasty BBQ but a but too dry and not very hot. Decent side portions. Nobody has better cornbread!
Service & Atmosphere: They were understaffed, with only one server for about 10 tables. My order was incorrect, but we didn’t see the server until the end of the meal. Everyone was seated in one section of the restaurant, with the other half empty. It made for a loud and less enjoyable experience.

Do not recommend.
Came for daughters birthday disappointed…
She ended up getting half her order forgotten all together.
The majority of the food was cold.
Most of the brisket was just fat, no meat at all.
Still waiting for the ribs I ordered, guess I don’t get them. But they were on the bill…
Pictures included.
For all the hype, highly disappointing.
Food was mediocre to say the least.
Server was rushing us out the door before we even got my daughters ice cream desert.

Today was our fourth wedding anniversary and my husband and I decided to try a new restaurant. And I’m so happy we chose Famous Daves, meat was amazing! One of the best I’ve ever tried. Money we’ll spend!
And service was outstanding, Tony made sure we had a great time there, the service he offered since we step in was absolutely the best! Thank you!

Famous Dave’s has the most delicous, succulent and fall off the bone ribs. We had to stop at Famous Dave’s to get the awesome ribs. We also got delicous sides of Corn & Mac/Cheese! The corn bread muffin was delicous! The service was excellent & with a smile. The restaurant was clean and organized. Famous Dave’s in Layton should be how all Famous Dave’s locations operate, which is perfect & awesome!

Visited around the lunch rush and ordered iris down fried chicken and the Georgia chopped pork sandwich. The chicken is amazing! And the pork sandwhich goes well with the devils spit bbq sauce. The fries are wedge style and done really well. However the cornbread was a bit disappointing.
Definitely worth the visit!
