It was great for a big group in their upstairs room. I had the vol au vent which was excellent. The calamari was ok, but I guess I have a bit of a high standard being Mediterranean… The waffle and frozen strawberry mockocktail were ok. Service was good, no issues, decent prices.

Amazing building. Beautiful on the outside and inside. Comfy tables, in your own corners so you can easily talk. Belgian kitchen. Friendly staff. Food was good, but felt a bit plain in seasoning. Vegan dishes as well. I would recommend it more for the unique location, which felt very romantic.

AKN only in 2026 made this review; the first of his book.

He went with some friends there and he always wanted to go, but only after Fabio (his cook friend), proposed him to ho, AKN decided to go.

Regular standard Belgian plates, mid/high price for not huge quantity.

AKN in the end was full he ate before the lunch, but for example, Fabio’s girlfriend ordered pasta and the plate was not a lot.

The place is magnificent.

The place is absolutely stunning, it’s truly a little gem of Art Nouveau. The staff was very friendly and the service was impeccable. The carbonnade was very tasty, the steak was tender and well cooked, and the fries were not oily and nicely crispy. However, the vol au vent was quite bland though it had a lot of chicken. The tiramisu speculoos could also benefit from a second layer of speculoos to really taste it and ensure good balance with the cream. Overall, the portions are quite generous – all of us were full. We had a great time at La Porteuse D’Eau, it is definitely a must-do in Brussels !

This is a wonderful restaurant and I can only recommend you to visit. Not only for its architecture, ambiance and artistic style (which could be reason enough) but also for the great food, attention to detail and service. We visited La Porteuse d’Eau for our 10th anniversary during our stay in Brussels, I reached out beforehand to make my reservation, asking if it was possible to get a nice seating because of the occasion, I was not expecting to get much, but we were treated with a great table next to a window, courtesy champagne glasses for our toast, everyone in the staff was super attentive and lovely with us, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, but without being intrusive. I am so happy I decided to spend our special night here, and would definitely visit again, next time we are passing by, we will make sure to come here. Top recommendation

I’ve been to restaurants in Sint Gillis before, it’s a lively part of Brussels. Close to this restaurant there’s Coimbra, if you fancy Portuguese food.
So I’ve seen La Porteuse d’Eau several times and liked the atmosphere there, seen from the outside, it’s Art Deco look.
So arriving late in Brussels from a delayed flight I reserved a table for me and my wife. And I wasn’t disappointed. I took the “waterzooi”, my wife the salmon. We were both quite happy with our choices, really excellent. Waiters and waitress were very friendly, and like I said, the art deco interior, probably authentic, makes the experience also quite nice.
It’s a place to come back to.

It’s a lovely Art Nouveau café with excellent food. We had a relaxed lunch in a really charming historical venue, with food that was really well cooked and presented, from the starters to the mains and the desserts, which were also fantastic. Service was also excellent. I would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking a good spot to rest, eat and enjoy the atmosphere.

I had a really lovely time at La Porteuse d’Eau. The restaurant is located in a gorgeous Art Nouveau building, and the interior is full of beautiful details like stained glass and elegant woodwork—it has a lot of character and feels really special. The service was friendly and relaxed, and the food was great. I had the pasta with vegetables, which was full of flavor, and my partner really enjoyed his dish too. I’d definitely like to come back, and I think it’s a perfect place to take visitors if you want to share a charming, authentic Brussels spot.

5/5 if you ignore the side salad. The bernaise sauce was the best ever but it cost extra and was totally necessary for the palette. The steak was cooked perfectly and the tartar tasted really good also. A great place! Would go again to try other menu items and daily suggestions!
