The staff is down-to-earth and helpful. I ordered the fried catfish with fries with coleslaw. The catfish was undercooked and too soft for my liking, but the fries could rival McDonald’s, crispy and addictive. The coleslaw was chunky, creamy, simple, and good.
I also ordered a half-pound of snow crab on the side and it was so good. Fresh, meaty, and paired with a perfectly salty, delicious butter. Despite the hiccup with the catfish, the nostalgia alone made this visit worth it.
Inside: The restaurant was spacious, welcoming, and had plenty of seating both inside and on the patio.
My wife and I both ordered the fish & shrimp basket. There was an option with 4 shrimp and 2 pieces of fish, which is what we chose.
While waiting for our food, I took some time to admire the décor. The restaurant has large windows that let you enjoy the outside scenery, and there’s also an area available for private dining. The menu offers an extensive selection of seafood along with several other items.
Our food was prepared very quickly.
Food: We enjoyed our baskets overall. The fish was fried to perfection and had a nice flaky texture, though it could have used a little more seasoning. I personally liked the French fries, but my wife wasn’t a fan of the style they used, it really comes down to personal preference.
The shrimp were a good size and very tasty. Unfortunately, the hush puppies were a bit bland.
The price felt reasonable for what we ordered.
Overall: I would come back again and try a different dish.
So Fun and So Yummy!
We LOVE Flying Fish! The fish on the walls make it such a fun place to eat — you can’t help but smile when you walk in!
The catfish is crispy and delicious, the French fries and hush puppies are the perfect sides, and we especially love making our own cocktail sauce just the way we like it!
It’s always a good time and good food at Flying Fish. We can’t wait to come back! ️❤️
