This was our first time visiting this restaurant for an early Saturday dinner at 4 pm.

Their online menu is mobile friendly and very easy to navigate and read; same applies to their in-house menu. The restaurant is licensed to serve alcohol.

There is lots of free parking in the adjacent lot.

We were a bit surprised because this is not a service restaurant and more like a fast food restaurant. You place your order at the window, pay, then staff gives you a numbered marker to help identify you when your order is ready.

The interior of the restaurant is very unclean; the floor is greasy, our table was not cleaned and even had food in the grooves of the table. The door window was so dirty you could hardly see out of it, the window sills hadn’t been cleaned in weeks if not months, cob webs were on the outside windows and there was a thick layer of dust on top of the ceiling vents; needless to say, cleanliness is not their forte. We opted to sit inside but we can only imagine how dirty the picnic tables are outside in the outdoor, covered, eating area. We were able to see partially into the kitchen and it looked relatively clean, thank goodnes.

The benches and back rest are plywood and very uncomfortable. Our table even had nails sticking out of them on the trim which were very sharp and my wife scratched her arm; staff didn’t really seem to care and/or understand as she said she would clean it up???

Food is served in takeout containers with plastic forks; not on plates and with stainless steel cutlery.

The ribs were outstanding. Very well cooked; moist and well seasoned and the apple bbq sauce was delicious and not overly sweet like most BBQ sauces. They don’t have any wet wipes for the ribs so you need to exit the restaurant and go into the antique mall to use the washroom to wash up. The house coleslaw was bland and lacked seasoning. The fries were perfectly cooked, crispy and delicious.

The smashburger combo was also very good. The burger was tasty, well seasoned and a perfect size. They only have processed cheese for their burgers so we opted for no “cheese”. This combo comes with a poutine and drink. The fries in the poutine were great as well, the cheese curds were tasty but the gravy tasted like a canned run of the mill gravy. We like that they have Bubly as an option for drinks as we dont like pop.

The decor is a mish-mash of supposed Canadiana but it didn’t make much sense and could do with an update.

So the question is would we return? We would not go to the restaurant to eat but we would order takeout as the food was good value for the money and tasted quite good.

Husband ordered the double smash burger with side poutine with pop and added a classic Quebec poutine for myself. $30 for our purchase.

The burger was one patty broken in two. I questioned it and the cashier said “that’s just how we make them, one patty smashed on the grill and cut in two.” She discussed with the cook and confirms thats just how they make a double smash patty. OK, that’s misleading.

Poutine gravy was ok probably premade/powder mix. Fries were gross, overcooked and the oil needs to be changed. Same amount of curds on the side poutine as on the full sized.

I was also gifted a black hair, from the cook, in my poutine. (Husband is blonde and I’m a redhead so its not ours)

It was a staggering 40 minute wait for this meal. The server forgot my husband’s pop which was supposed to be included with his “double smash burger combo”.

Cashier/server unwilling to fix issues or offer refund.

This place is a gem in KWC. The best chicken burger I ever had in this city. Loved the friendly environment, the ambience and good old memories of all the Canadian comic art.

I’ve been to the Crazy Canuck several times over the last few years. Food has been consistently good quality and the prices are surprisingly great especially for what you get. If you are looking for HIGH value and enjoy burgers I’d give it a try.

Fast, delicious sandwiches and hot, fresh/cut fries! We had the chicken club and the portobello burger. Fresh ingredients, served hot. Delicious. Mostly take-out but fine to sit inside -very casual.

We always stop in at crazy Canucks for pizza when we are in St. Jacobs. We have been for lunch and dinner and it is always great.

The outdoor picnic tables are perfect when the weather permits.

The indoor seating is limited to a few booths and a few tables.

The overall look is a little dark and may seem off putting but don’t let that stop you. The pizza is really good.

It is easily walkable from the nearby hotels and just a short walk walk from the farmers market. It does have plenty of easily accessible parking away from the farmers market.

It is attached to the antique barn which is nice to walk around after having a meal here.

If you’re looking for the ultimate fry experience in Waterloo, Crazy Canuck is a must-try. I recently ordered their fresh-cut fries with customized toppings, and it was absolutely worth it!

This is not your average fast-food poutine or fry box — it’s fresh, flavorful, and filling. Definitely recommend it for a quick lunch or a snack with a twist!

We are here while staying across the road. We both had the smash burger combo and yes it is the best deal in town. Great burger and delicious poutine. Get it if you are hungry because we could only eat one of the poutines and took the other home. Their beer was also very good as we bought a few to go. Nice little place with cool decor.

I tried the classic poutine from Crazy Canuck, and it was everything you’d want—crispy fries, perfectly squeaky cheese curds, and rich, savory gravy that tied it all together. The portion was generous, and the flavors were spot-on. No frills, just a solid, comforting plate of poutine done right. Would definitely go back for it!

We stopped in for lunch after Antique shopping next door. I had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich with fries, my daughter had the Taco Poutine. Both were amazing and very filling. The fries were great too. Love the decor. We will definitely be returning.
