I bought hallacas because I love Venezuelan hallacas, but these hallacas didn’t look good, they didn’t have the taste of Venezuelan hallacas, and the cost of $10 for the hallacas was really not worth it.
That’s why I’m leaving this comment; the food is actually good, but I don’t recommend the hayacas (a type of tamale).

This place was great, I don’t know what some of the reviewers are complaining about! I always like to try Venezuelan food whenever I have the chance to. I tried numerous little items from this place, including the mandocas or corn fritters, pastelitos de queso or cheese pastelitos, and the shredded beef empanada.

Everything was really quite good flavor wise, very cheap, and overall just gave a nice street food kind of vibe. The corn fritters were really good. Fried crispy on the outside and a bit oily, but not in a bad way. They were surprisingly quite sweet and fluffy in the inside. Cheap and delicious.

The beef empanada came in a large portion, and I really enjoyed it. The beef was well seasoned, flavorful, and had a fantastic texture. It wasn’t too bready. I loved the green and slightly creamy sauce they served with the empanada. Great.

The cheese pastelitos were probably my least favorite of the few items I tried, I thought they weren’t all that flavorful, but definitely weren’t bad by any means. Filling was decent with a good amount of cheese, but just not a ton of flavor to them.

All in all, a very nice place to get street food type of items and more substantial items too, like cachapas and arepas. I’d definitely recommend this spot.

Review of Sabe a Zulia – A Taste of Venezuela Worth Trying

I want to start off by saying—don’t get discouraged by the challenging parking situation. It can be a hassle, but trust me, the food is well worth the effort.

We kicked things off with the empanada de carne mechada, and I have to say, they were absolutely on point. The taste and texture were spot on, with a perfectly fried exterior and generous filling proportions. This dish earns a solid 8.9/10 in my book.

Next up were the tequeños, which, unfortunately, fell a bit short of expectations. It seemed like they were taken out of the oven too soon—the dough felt undercooked, and the cheese wasn’t fully melted. I believe just a couple more minutes in the oven would have made a big difference. This time around, they rated a 5/10, but I’d be willing to give them another shot.

The Super Arepa was another standout item. The portion size was incredible—honestly, it’s hard to imagine anyone finishing one in a single sitting. Flavor-wise, it was excellent, earning a respectable 8.6/10.

Moving on to the churrasco, this dish was a bit of a letdown. The steak lacked seasoning and was rather bland, making it hard to justify the price. I’d recommend steering clear of this one, as it just doesn’t deliver the best value. My rating: 6.3/10.

As for the Parrillada Sabe a Zulia, it had its ups and downs. While everything was well-seasoned, the steak, pork, and chicken were all overcooked and ended up dry. The chorizo, however, was spot on and packed with flavor. Overall, I’d give it a 7.9/10.

Despite a few misses, I would definitely recommend making a point to visit Sabe a Zulia and giving them a try. Their empanadas rank among the top three I’ve ever had, and there’s plenty of potential for an amazing meal if you choose wisely.

Patacón is the best! Tequeyoyos were also tasty, and they were able to accommodate our request for a vegetarian arepa. Very authentic tasty Venezuelan food, and the staff is very nice and really helpful. We loved it and can’t wait to go back again.
