Mr. Kalogeras was in the restaurant business for many years and was excited that his boys (Michael and George) were opening up in the region. He was in business for 20 years at Delta Family Restaurant on 53rd and Broadway in Gary, IN. He then moved to Monticello, IN and opened up Anglers for another 20 years. His son, Michael Kalogeras took over because he needed a heart transplant.

Cafe Stelios is the real deal when it comes to breakfast and lunch. The Greek owned restaurant served up Pancakes, Omelets, Biscuits and Gravy, Shrimp and Grits and so much more! We were seated almost immediately on very busy Sunday morning. Our waitress was cheerful, pleasant and provided excellent service. My Spartan omelette came out cooked lightly exactly how I asked for it with spinach, tomatoes and feta. The Sausage Gravy was hearty and full of meat and the perfect consistency. The dining area was bright, and cozy, updated and clean. I highly recommend Stelios for breakfast, brunch or lunch!

Got there at around noon, was all here to walk right in a had be a seat. Pancakes are probably the best anywhere around. Overall the food was very good. Our waitress made sure our cup of coffee was always full which btw the coffee was also very good. The entire staff was very friendly. Place is very clean and not loud at all, we will definitely be goin back regularly.

We had a coupon,BOGO, from a fundraiser one of our grandchildren sold us. I’m so glad we decided to redeem it. Our server Violet was very pleasant and we really enjoyed our meal. My omelette came out fluffy and delicious. The coffee was very good. After reading the menu I realize we need to come back because everything looks so good! Thank you so much Cafe Stelios and Violet I really enjoyed the music they were playing while we were eating and they had the cafe decorated so nicely for Easter.

My first time visiting Cafe Stelio’s today. I ordered a veggie omelette with turkey sausage, hash browns and pancakes and a side of shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits were horrible. The grits were watered down. I told the waitress everything was good except the shrimp and grits. My bill included the shrimp and grits even though it was apparent that I didn’t eat it and the waitress took the bowl back. I was told it’s nothing they can do about the bill because the manager, George left for the day and I can come back tomorrow. I live in Chicago. I’m not traveling back to Indiana. They told me I can call George. Why should I call him when he should be calling me about my experience? Ridiculous! I’ll never come here again! First and last time!

Went here some time ago and the place was super cute, decorated for Valentine’s. It was quiet, due to it being earlier than most couples would be out for the day. Waitress seemed a slight bit grumpy, but but otherwise not unpleasant or unfriendly. My soup and sandwich was absolutely delicious and my date demolished her pancakes!

GREAT service on Valentines day.
Evelyn, who was the hostess, maintained a warm smile and worked quickly to seat everyone (including outgoing phone calls to waiting customers), checked everyone in/out, and managed incoming calls.
Our waitresses, Emma and Destiny, worked tirelessly to place everyone’s orders, kept the refills coming, and maintained a calm and friendly composure the whole time we were there.
I also had the pleasure meeting the owner’s (George) brother. George called his brother to come in to help bus tables while George kept everything running in the kitchen. Now that’s what I call servant leadership!
Oh, and they have expresso. I’m a coffee snob. I rarely drink coffee outside my home. But they serve up an excellent expresso and French toast latte!

First off…..when this place first opened, the food was nice and decent. This morning I called in for an order pickup and the first time I called the guy asked me to call back in 2 mins so that he can get someone to take my order. 1st red flag! I called back and placed my order for 2 veggie omelets…..one no mushroom add the maple chicken sausage and the red potatoes instead of hash browns and toast. The other omelet was to have turkey sausage added and regular has browns and pancakes. When my husband came home with the food the hash browns and potatoes were place with the wrong omelets, the toast was hard, the potatoes and hash browns were burnt, the omelets didn’t seem to be fully cooked, there was a ton of butter or grease in the container, no flavor to any of the food! We tried seasoning the food and still didn’t work. Bottom line is ….. the food was not tasty AT ALL! A WAISTED $40!!!!! I would definitely say that MAXIMS restaurant and THE WHEEL has wayyyyy better tasting food! LAST TIME COMING TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!!
