Gem of a restaurant. Tiny place with fantastic cozy/hip vibe, good food, and artsy team. We wanted a fun place to catch up with friends in NYC and hit the spot for warm intimate table of 4. Food was very good – we really enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer and trout pate snack. Cocktails were unique and excellent. For the main, we split a 28oz steak frites – well prepared. Server was funky and friendly. Overall, really enjoyed our experience. Few tables – book ahead. Recommend.

Had such a great experience at Joseph Leonard for a birthday dinner. We arrived very early for our reservation not expecting to get seated almost immediately. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I had the duck special which was incredible paired with a wine that our server recommended. My boyfriend had the trout with farrow and leeks also incredible and cooked perfectly. Overall will be going back and thank you to our server and the maitre d’ for making our night so special!

I stumbled upon this hidden gem while hunting for a chicken sandwich, and it totally exceeded my expectations! The vibe is cozy yet classy with a cool modern twist, and the staff made us feel welcome immediately. The chicken sandwich, salad, and fries were all delicious. We walked in around 4:30 PM for a table of two and didn’t have to wait, though just a heads-up: they were upfront about a strict 90-minute time limit since they had an upcoming reservation at 6PM.

It’s my favorite restaurant in the entire city. A little slice of wisconsin in the heart of Manhattan. Midwest friendliness with amazing food. They also play the best music. The ambiance is romantic yet homey at the same time. Keep it up little Wisco.

Perfect for a night out. Staff is very welcoming from the moment you step inside. Fed and beverages were delicious, I had the trout which was fresh and full of flavor. The polenta was stellar as was the cauliflower appetizer. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I look forward to returning.

Very small location and might be a little bit of wait but very good. Cute overall atmosphere and aesthetic. Service came out quickly but definitely again tight seating wise. We order the burger: food portion and good food. Overall recommend

This is truly the best restaurant group in NYC. The food never misses, and the service is always the absolute best at all of their locations. My friend and I were in need of a good night of wining and dining—we were seated at the bar, and Kait was the most incredibly attentive, thoughtful, kind server.
The hostess also didn’t make us feel rushed and let us occupy our bar stools for nearly three hours where we caught up and truly had the best night.
In a time where things are feeling really bleak, these little kindnesses and moments of joy—time with friends, impeccable service, great food—make such a difference.
Thank you, Joseph Leonard team! ❤️

We were visiting New York to meet up with a friend and came here for food and to catch up! Atmosphere is small but cozy and not too loud. Our waiter was very friendly and the service was good! We ordered the burger and chicken sandwich which came out nice and hot. Everything looked and tasted great. We ordered a slice of carrot cake and banana toffee cake. The carrot cake was moist and the frosting wasn’t too sweet. I really enjoyed the banana toffee cake, good toffee to banana ratio! I’m glad I stopped by; it was a good place to catch up with friends!

TLDR; super atmospheric and lovely restaurant with fairly good food depending on what you order.
We came in on a busy day without reservation and didn’t get a table with the caveat that they needed to back within the hour – probably better to come with reservations.
The restaurant has a very charming rustic vibe and is quite small which only adds to it. Since we came in only for a quick bite, we ordered the egg sandwich, an omelette and a fruit bowl. The fruit was super fresh and the strawberries were unbelievably sweet, but the real star of the show was the egg sandwich. The flavors are just incredible and even though it might look small, it’s very filling.
The omelette was unfortunately a bit too bland for my taste.
Update: on a second visit, we tried the granola as well as the baguette French toast. The latter was absolutely amazing – so crispy, so lightly sweetened. The best I’ve had.
Service is nice and attentive.

Daly Dailey or however you spell his name is arguably the best dining service person in the entire world. Our experience with Daly on multiple occasions has been the funniest dining we’ve had when we visit the city a couple times a year. Oh, and the Appies and Cockies are amazing as well. Thank you Daly for existing on this planet…see you sooner or later with Jordan and Callie!
