We placed a takeout order for two steaks and paid $135 plus an $22 tip and this is what we got!!! Both steaks were completely raw when they were ordered to be cooked medium, vegetables were not cooked and only got a bite of Au Gratins. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Love this place! We got when we are in town. The walleye was fantastic, cooked perfectly. The lobster bisque is the best soup I’ve ever had. I’d buy it by the gallon. Service was excellent, I bought a hoodie sweatshirt to bring part of the place home with me. Will definitely be back!

I came in for lunch and decided to try the Cubano sandwich, and I was not disappointed. The meat was juicy and tender, the bread was fresh, the sauce was delightful, and the view from my table was breathtaking. I will definitely return the next time I am in town.

Imagine sitting at a cozy booth sipping hot chocolate while eating your favorite food. Now think of a charming log cabin. Black bear Lodge gives you all of that, plus more.

Oh the food. The food is so incredibly good. The burgers taste like heaven in your mouth. They even have gluten-free buns! The mac and cheese is so creamy it tastes like butter. Make sure to order their legendary chicken wild rice soup, it’s the best in town. This is the ultimate place for freshly made American food.

You walk in and you immediately feel like you stepped into another time. Greeting you at the door as a family of black bears carved out of wood like the storybook Three Little bears. The service is as fast as lightning. They refilled my water twice and were very polite.

That’s why I recommend Black Bear. The food is amazing, the service is crazy good, and the atmosphere is cozy. You will love eating at Black Bear Lodge!

My husband and I had lunch here with my parents and the food and service were wonderful.

We all had walleye in some form so the food portion of this review is sort of limited. My dad had the walleye sandwich with waffle fries with the rest of ordering the pan fried walleye.
The walleye was cooked perfectly for everyone and tasted absolutely delicious. The vegetables were fresh- hot, not mushy, full flavor, not oversalted. The mashed potatoes and waffle fries were both good. I can’t wait to go back and try the dinner menu.

Service was fast and friendly. My dad has milk at lunch every day without fail and for some reason about 95% of servers forget to bring him his milk. The milk showed up here. Maybe it’s because we all ordered walleye but I’ll put it in the good service pocket so kudos! Our server was awesome.

Accessibility: there’s disability parking though it’s somewhat far from the entrance. You may need to be dropped at the door. I took photos so refer to those. Wheelchairs will need to roll up a slight incline to the door from the parking access. We sat at a booth and I was able to easily transfer out of my chair onto the cushioned booth with my chair sitting right next to me. It didn’t block the aisle (manual rigid chair). The tables in the area we sat in were wheelchair accessible. Aisles were plenty wide.

We had the Prime rib and the wild rice soup. Make sure you get the soup. Just stop and buy the soup. It is the best I have ever had.

Black Bear is my go-to spot anytime I’m back in Baxter. Sitting at the bar truly feels like home. I always get the prime rib on weekends and it’s always good. The bartenders are great.
