Nice place to stop for a rest and recharge during a road trip, the turkey sandwhich was excellent. Turkey was moist, well seasoned, and smoked perfectly. The tea was bold and pretty fresh. The coleslaw was a little less fresh, tasting a little like old mayo. I would probably try a different side next time. I did enjoy the outdoor area. Service was adequate.

Driving back from corpus and didn’t want typical fast food option. So I spotted this place and stopped. Great looking place. Looks like what a BBQ restaurant should look like. I Needed something quick and convenient, so I went with the sliced BBQ sandwich., not the combo. They had some good looking sides, and off brand chip selection, but I was going to be driving and eating. At $11.99 it was decently packed in there on a nice thick, but soft bun. Can’t say it looked like the freshest brisket I’ve ever see, probably due to heat lamps, but it was still tender and moist. Unfortunately, just not a lot of smoke flavor. ‍♂️ the cashier was friendly and helpful and included barbecue sauce. Nothing homemade, probably something like Cattleman’s. They do have condiment bar with some nice crisp jalapenos, onions, pickles, etc.! it was good, but not great. It was filling and did the trick! Will I be back? Not sure.

Very clean restaurant all around, well mannered staff, convenient location(specially for those with an RV), but food is a little overpriced for the quality and flavor of the food, brisket is a little to dry despite having fat attached. A little over $30 for a sandwich of turkey and another of brisket. @memerios1020

As truck drivers we will never again stop at this place , it’s bad enough we have what the road has to offer. Then we stop to eat at this decent looking restaurant, just to be disappointed by the food. It lacks flavor and very over priced, just drive to the McDonald’s instead. The bread on my sandwich could be used to build a house.

Servers had a good attitude which provided a good atmosphere. Most food items on menu are prepared in advance since they can take a while to cook, especially the meat , but the fried items were all prepared fresh when ordered.
My husband also took note while he waited that cleanliness and sanitation was being adhered to, like changing gloves after preparing every persons order into starting a new one. Men’s bathroom was also well kept for a multi- stall, urinal and sinks size room.
We were pleasantly surprised to see the portioning of the sides, we ordered fries, okra and gator, all fried fresh. Also. The main dish we ordered a 3 meat platter (w/ 2 sides), turkey, chicken and brisket.
The turkey was juicy for white meat, breast meat sliced and flavorful with and without the BBQ sauce provided.
The brisket was juicy! Almost falling apart on its own and I wish we bought more of it!
The chicken, sorry, after eating the brisket it was so hard to enjoy it as much as I wish I could lol.
Overall, the best part of all of this? This entire meal was around $30, w/out drinks (we already had our own), and it fed two adults. So it was great for our road trip. Thank you! Hope to stop by again.

I had the pleasure of ordering the beef ribs, accompanied by corn and baked beans. The meal was delightful, and I certainly plan to return. The service, provided by Amanda and John, was exceptional; they were both outgoing and very welcoming. They served with a smile and even offered a sample, along with excellent recommendations for my order. The only issue with the location was how cold it was inside, as if the heater were broken.

A WELCOME AND CLEAN STOP ON I-37. The counter staff was very friendly and suggested we have the child’s plates to save money (we are both seniors). We both ordered brisket plates that came with a single side each. My wife got the regular pinto beans, and I got BBQ pinto beans that were sauced and had chunks of sausage in it. The meals came with medium drinks, and the portions of meat and sides were generous. It was less than $20.00 for both meals combined. We will return here in the years ahead.

The BRISKET sandwiches were dry. We went in the evening and maybe the meat by then wasn’t good. Either way they shouldn’t serve customers old meat thats been in some kind of heating lamp. We certainly will not be eating there again.

I came for BBQ on a 12 hr road trip and left with beef. Just not the edible kind. The food was so dry I’m pretty sure it needed lotion and a glass of water. I’ve had crackers with more moisture. If this is “slow smoked,” it must’ve been forgotten on the grill overnight. Overall, the experience was about as enjoyable as chewing cardboard while being judged for it. Definitely won’t be back, and my taste buds are still filing a complaint. Yeah, choke canyon really did warn me tho, the food so dry, its literally a chocking hazard if not careful. To top it off, the service somehow matched the food bone dry. The ladies working the counter had straight up attitude. Coleslaw was good. Never again .

Our 1st stop coming from San Antonio, headed to Port A for the weekend. The Food was excellent!
I had the Ribs and Brisket plate and a Budweiser. There’s plenty of BBQ SAUCE, PICO , BREAD AND JALAPENOS at the Salsa Bar.
Just Go there and enjoy. The air conditioning was great in the open environment and Staff was friendly and welcoming.
Get more sides you will not be disappointed. The food is made with Love
The Mack and Cheese and Cole Slaw is VERY GOOD.
