This is just my first time trying this indian food in this reaturant. AND I will NEVER EVER ORDER OR VISIT this restaurant!!! Food taste is horrible! Chicken curry is very salty and oily. It’s so bad even think it was spoiled! Didn’t take picture because I throw it right away! Didn’t even give sweet chutney to my Samosa order!!! Gulab Jamun is old as you can see already like burnt because it is old! and so hard! Maybe because the reason is I ordered last minute and I didn’t know that, but still I just wasted my money! Don’t ORDER YOU WILL JUST BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Train your staff to meet your standard even if it’s last order!

Amazing restaurants and their buffet service is very good. They had good enough items for a full meal and all of them were delicious. Definitely recommend for their buffet.

I’ve been here for the buffet before and it was pretty decent but then I ordered out and it was a pretty lousy experience. The Channa Masala was tolerable although too salty, but the Dal Tadka was actually inedible: so salty and there was almost something that tasted rancid about it, I felt somewhat ill after eating only a small amount. The garlic naan was okay but it had gotten very soggy by the time I ate it (I’m sure better in restaurant). I also had to wait for an additional 20 minutes after I was quoted for my food to arrive. So maybe consider the buffet but a definite no on the takeaway.

We visited Charminar Biriyani House in Troy with high expectations, given its reputation, and tried a variety of dishes: Goat Dum Biriyani, Lamb Biriyani, Mixed Grill, Samosa Chaat, and Butter Naan. While the food was generally good, there were a few inconsistencies that impacted our experience.

First, we ordered both biriyanis with a spicy level, but the spice levels varied dramatically. One biriyani was incredibly spicy, almost uncomfortably so, while the other was much milder and didn’t meet our expectations for a “spicy” dish. It was disappointing that the spice levels weren’t consistent despite ordering the same level of heat for both dishes.

In terms of flavor, the biriyanis themselves were okay. The Goat Dum Biriyani had tender meat but could have used more seasoning, and the Lamb Biriyani was similarly fine but didn’t stand out in any way. Both dishes were decent, but we’ve had better biriyanis elsewhere.

The Mixed Grill was tasty, with a good variety of meats, but it wasn’t anything particularly memorable. The Samosa Chaat was a fun dish, with the right balance of tanginess and crunch, and the Butter Naan was soft and fresh, though it was a bit on the thinner side compared to what we’re used to.

Overall, the meal was satisfactory but didn’t live up to the hype. While we enjoyed some elements, like the Samosa Chaat and Butter Naan, the inconsistency in spice levels and the lack of standout flavors in the biriyanis made it an average experience. It’s a solid option if you’re in the area, but it’s not a place we would rush to return to.

The worst mutton biryani I have had in my life. The mutton pieces were not cooked properly; they were like raw, and when I was eating this, it felt like I was eating beef.

These days it’s getting more difficult to find a wide variety buffet unless it’s at big hotel or resort area. By no means is this large, however it’s diverse enough to satiate a wide range of taste. I’ve been going to this location and the one in Dearborn for a few years now. Overall this one is more tame heat level. I find the food selection to be a mix between average to better than average. The interior is fairly modern and airy. I find the service & customer focus higher than average for a buffet. I believe the also have menu items to go as well. Overall I give them a thumbs up…even several of my Indian friends love going here.

We tried Hyderabad boneless chicken dum biryani on Saturday night @ around 8 for dine-in. A young girl in hijab took order, seemingly family owned. Restaurant is almost empty, even less take-awayonline orders. We said spicy. Biryani is not freshly made. Some of the rice is like crisp like chips. I doubt they have daily buffet, they might have served the same rice which kept in buffet either same day or day before. Since buffet needs hot all the time, biryani rice might get like crisp on very edges and bottom leftover rice. They might have preserved each piece and might be serving customers at dinner time. When i asked, girl took that crispy rice into her hands and said they took out from refrigerator and heated in oven, it may not properly heated. Then i got to know they reheated in microwave Owen and served us. I saw small bone piece and also very thin mutton pieces of couple. She said to wait to speak to chef, but he is busy in clearing wet floor at restrooms entrance. I gone to counter and paid the bill and left the place. Family owned is okay but a i don’t expect a person from kitchen cleans floor and restrooms. Arguments make my evening more worse, so left with no talks.

My recommendation is never go to restaurants for dinner if they had lunch buffet. They preserve & serve the same leftover for night. Waste of money and health issues. I never recommend this restaurant if you’re biryani lover. The taste is not like biryani. It is just like coloured rice with coloured chicken.

Ambience is not like restaurant, more like mosque theme. No infotainment

Update 4/24: The owners did a very stylish and quality remodel for the restaurant size. The lunch buffet is expanded but still the same great service and delicious food. Also, nicer plates, glassware, tables and comfortable booth seating. This is one of my favorite spots whenever I’m home in Detroit. Also a location on the Wayne State U campus. Lunch buffet offers rice with 4-6 vegetarian choices, samosas, nan, salad, Butter, Chili, Curry and Tandori chicken. They often have Curry Goat too. The staff are always very attentive and pleasant. My first visit to Troy for an Indian lunch buffet was far from satisfactory. We narrowed it down to two restaurants and my husband picked this.

The first thing that caught my attention was the lack of cleanliness. When we were seated, we were offered water in a jug that was unclean and had some green leaves in it. This was a significant turn-off. The bowls weren’t clean either, still had food residue on them. I had to inspect each plate and bowl after that.

The buffet menu was surprisingly limited, offering a scant selection of dishes that didn’t reflect the variety one would expect from a restaurant in this price range. I was shocked to see the limited menu but hoped the quality would be good. However, we were really disappointed. Additionally, there were very few options for kids.

Here’s a breakdown of the dishes we tried:

Chicken starters : Decent
Tandoori chicken : Good, but loaded with food coloring
Veg Pakora : Okay
Chicken Biryani : Lacked flavor
Desserts (Rice Kheer and Kesari) : Lacked sweetness and taste
Masala Chai : Okay

The food overall lacked both taste and flavor, making the whole experience quite disappointing. Given the high prices, I expected a lot more in terms of quality and flavor.

Overall, it was an unhappy experience. They really need to focus on cleanliness. The ambience was okay, but it’s not worth $17.50 for this buffet. I would not recommend this restaurant. If you’re considering dining here, try your luck elsewhere.
