First restaurant visit with our 3 months old!

Had a great brunch at The Gardens Restaurant At The Penn Stater. This was the first time we were venturing out all together with our 3 months old son. The food was great as always, Lamb gravy being unanimously the show stopper for everyone. I love their cheesecake and all the other bakery items as well.

The experience was great because apart from food it was super easy to go there with an infant. They had an infant car seat cradle, something which we didn’t even know about (Our plan was to put him in the stroller near a corner table) which made keeping an eye on the baby a lot easier. When the baby started getting a bit uncomfortable in his seat, we could walk him around in the galleries and lobby of the hotel, which came really handy.

Overall, A+ food and experience, great place for taking infants !

Eeee… if you expect this restaurant to be an upscale place to celebrate anniversaries or parties, it is not.

We made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary as we traditionally go to the Carnegie restaurant (it is being remodeled ), and I was disappointed from the moment I entered the room.

It is a restaurant-cafeteria type, with all simple tables for four, agglutinated among them in front of a buffet that it’s closed.

The waitress was sassy and kind of making faces… I was even wondering why does she bother to come and ask if we are enjoying the food? She was rolling her eyes and stuff.

Now, the good thing about the Gardens is definitely the food. Their baked brie is out of the ordinary and the meat had good flavor. I wish the Cesar salad is served with aged parmesan rather than kraft powdery parmesan.

Enjoyed Thanksgiving buffet but rated average since the cranberry sauce was the only cranberry choice and it was runny. I suggest going back to previous years when you provided a jelly or whole cramberries

Warning! Avoid the breakfast buffet. It’s $20 for very few options, most of which are bland and underwhelming. You can order the same food, or better, straight from the menu for much less. On top of that, several items on display weren’t even available, including the waffle machine and half the trays.

Overall, it felt like a rip-off and I left very frustrated.

Very nice service tho

We went for Sunday buffet (not brunch). For $18/person, I feel like there’s some improvement that could be made. The eggs were kind of dry, sausage wasn’t great, and potatoes were hard. The creamery cream cheese was excellent & we liked the blueberry pancakes though. Overall, I’ve had better breakfast at chain hotels that was complementary, sadly. Our waitress was fabulous and service was great. For what it’s worth, I disliked seeing the uncovered small pitchers of cream at every table that sit out 2-3 hours every day. Cream was also available near the juices. Either ask if it’s needed or only set it out at some of the tables so it doesn’t sit out too long and get bacteria/food/spittle in it.

This was my first time at the Gardens. We went for the brunch buffet. There were so many amazing options. Everything was very clean and organized. The atmosphere was great and service was above and beyond! Our waitress Judy was on top of everything and so nice!! 10/10 recommend! Total was about $67 (plus gratuity) for two people for the brunch buffet and endless non-alcoholic beverages.

We were traveling through the area and stopped by for breakfast. We were planning to get the buffet, but it is closed right now because of remodeling. So we ordered, and it was very delicious.

This was always our favorite place to celebrate/go for special occasions so we went for the Father’s Day brunch; there were 5 of us. They mixed up my dad’s made-to-order omelette with someone elses….seemed like kind of a cluster from order to finish. The prime rib was cold, hot lunch entrees choices were less than appealing, the fresh fruit was NOT fresh (brown around the edges esp. the pineapple), the French brioche toast was dry, the desserts were all stale except for the ice cream (which I assumed is still PS Creamery ice cream?). The hot egg entrees, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and mini Belgian waffles were all “pretty good”.
WAY overpriced and won’t return anytime soon
